GIRL FRIDAY ♥ WE HEART MODEL CLAUDIA DEVLIN ♥

If you've been watching and enjoying the vintage make up posts with videos from the lovely lady Lisa Eldridge, no doubt you have been wowed by the lovely girl model featured in the videos. She is so so so very much NANCY GIRL that I figured it best to do a Girl Friday post on her. She's really the type of model I love, too. I especially love the girls who look like mystical forest creatures. :) Clearly she's very young, like a lot of models...and she belongs to Premier, which I have already done a posting on. No doubt she's gotten a lot more attention since the videos went up as Lisa Eldridge is such a renowned make-up artist. You can see her deets here ...but I thought it would be nice to see some of her other work. When I look at her work, it looks really prolific...she can look really young and strange and a little older and very old world. In any case, I do have a lot of people to plug into the Girl Friday post. But it's probably a great time to showcase Claudia Devlin (which is also a great name)...good luck to her. We love her. I hope she gets tons of work! AND PS CLAUDIA (AND HER MOM) READ THIS BLOG. And they are as sweet as sweet can be.♡

I found this really lovely video below featuring Claudia Devlin...it's a year old, but it's still so pretty I had to feature it.

GIRL FRIDAY ♥ 60'S BOMBSHELL HAIR

I love love this YouTube guru HOLLYWOOD NOIR MAKEUPShe's a make up artist based in Canada who does the most gorgeous and also creative looks. She's very talented. But she, herself, is very bombshell, too. She looks like a lot of the girls I post up on NANCY GIRL. I need to go through her page or her blog again and find out her real name, though. I didn't see it on YouTube. I'll post up an editorial that I think I forgot to put up here that goes really really well with this bombshell hair. I mean, I would love to do this if I was in a city where I could do this. The thing about this is, after you learn how to do it the right way, you can make it as big or small as you like. It's priceless to know. Come back later and see the other GIRL FRIDAY post with the amazing editorial to go along with this. I'm pretty sure I haven't done a post with those photos yet. See you later and enjoy! (I wish I had these Gurus when I was 11 and 12 and aching to learn how to do these things. Looking at a photo and trying to figure it out yourself is rough. I mean, it's just nice that these talents get a channel online and share their knowledge. Love them.) PS Here's an OLDER post that I think this hair goes with brilliantly.xxx♡

GIRL FRIDAY ♥ KAREN ELSON DIVORCE?

I was going to do a post on another GIRL FRIDAY...but then I thought I'd share probably one of the strangest press releases I've ever received. It's about Karen Elson, whom I've covered on here before. So read it for yourself...you'll see why I read it a few times, wondering if it was hype, or a joke or real or ?...after all, it is also Jack White. And how can anyone forget that when the White Stripes started, they said they were brother and sister until it came out that they had been  couple before and weren't brother and sister at all. Here's the release:

To whom it may concern:

karen elson and jack white announce today that they are getting divorced.

"we remain dear and trusted friends and co-parents to our wonderful children Scarlett and Henry Lee.
We feel so fortunate for the time we have shared and the time we will continue to spend both separately and together watching our children grow.
In honor of that time shared, we are throwing a divorce party.  an evening together in Nashville to re-affirm our friendship and celebrate the past and future with close friends and family."

with love
Karen Elson and Jack White

If it's really true...that makes me very sad...I thought they were a match made in heaven. But at least the ending is a good one, albeit strange that they did a press release with the invite (which is gorgeous, btw)...wonder what really happened.♡

GIRL FRIDAY ♥ PERSONAL BEST BY MEISEL

Here is the final story I have been going over from the April issue of Italian Vogue. I've mentioned it a few times in the other posts, and since I don't have the story ready that I intended for the GIRL FRIDAY post, I'll show you these. It's a gorgeous story...with excellent casting and styling and gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous GLAMROCK. And we all know what I sucker I am for Glam Rock (spell it how you wanna spell it). It's been a crazy (good) week...I have good news and then almost good news because I was up for a huge huge fashion gig as a Senior Art Director overseeing all brands under one of the really successful fashion groups in the US. But it didn't happen....yet. :) Keep going, kids. Pursing a creative career can be challenging and there are a ton of highs and lows. But if your heart is in it, you will get there. And I'll support you. :) Some of my dreams are starting to unfold and I can't wait to have news to share about them with you. But until they fully manifest into concrete tangible reality, I'll keep them under wraps and just let you know that times can be rough and frustrating...but you have to keep going. And then one day you might end up working on a shoot like this one called PERSONAL BEST and shoot with someone like Steven Meisel. ;)

♥ GIRL FRIDAY ♥ MATERIAL GIRL ISSUE 14 PRETTY PRETTY STORY ♥

I just had to post this editorial as well as another one for the Saturday post because they're both so gorgeous! I think I should pitch them. I've never properly pitched them before (as a writer/contributor), but I think I should. Because I just love love their magazine. I love Lula, too...but upon research I think Lula ripped Material Girl off right down to the tag line...(Material Girl's is "MY LUXURY DIARY" and Lula's is "GIRL OF MY DREAMS"...they're not the same, but they're the same vibe. I still love Lula, but I love love Material Girl magazine, too.

Anyway...here is a lovely story from an older issue. But no matter, it's still lovely as ever. I'll look for the credits and add them when I find them. I'll be posting up another story that's sort of mermaid-y (!) from the current issue. Stay tuned!♥

GIRL FRIDAY ♥ LA SERA'S KATY GOODMAN

songbird Katy Goodman
Katy Goodman is a force...meshed with cool femininity. She's part of all-girl punk band Vivian Girls , she's one of the founders of record label Wild World and now she's also developed a new band, La Sera, that showcases her signature 60s-candy-dream voice. And, if you hadn't noticed, she's stylee, too. Take a look at the first video from the debut La Sera record. It's a little gory, mind you, but in a cheeky fun super pop way. I don't know if it's supposed to be a nod to girl power or  have more of an "I love you to death" vibe. But either way, it's interesting and it works really well as a contrast to  the sweet melody of the single. The first record hits the streets in February, but you can pre-order it here . You can buy the first single, from the video, "Never Come Around", on ITunes, now. La Sera is going on tour, so catch one of their shows (see below) if you can. (PS I would have tried to get an interview if I hadn't decided to do this post so quickly. I hadn't realized it was already time for Girl Friday...so I"ll try to land one next time around.)♡

if this is the cover art for the new record, it's AWESOME!

♥ GIRL FRIDAY ♥ ARTIST KELLY TUNSTALL ♥

Kelly Tunstall has been one of my favorite artists since I first saw her girls painted all over 111 Minna, a gallery in San Francisco. I knew who she was. I loved her work. And then, by chance, I met her while I was at another show ogling an installation she had done with another friend whose work I love, Maya Hayuk.

Kelly's girls, in my opinion, should be on everything girly. I think the Japanese market would swallow her up. If I had my own magazine, I'd give her a monthly illustrated fashion column. (Hopefully she'll do some fashion stories for our new magazine.) I've never seen anyone else work like her, draw like her, create fantasy like her. I love the girl in the first image. She's my style. This image sits on my desktop. I love her and wish I was her. And every time I look at her, I wonder why more people haven't hired Kelly. (Don't get me wrong, though, because Kelly is quite successful. )

And this is a portrait she did of me! She sent it to me after I finished writing my last novel. I love how flash pink it is.Notice the letter "M" in the center.

Here's another one. I'm not sure if it's me or not. But I did ask her about it when it debuted at a show. "It says MT on the coin purse, Kelly..." To which she replied, "Yeah, and she has two cents and she's still proud." Truth be told, I was broke at the time. :) And the color of the eyes. May-be. You see a lot of Kelly's friends in her paintings. It's pretty fun to try and figure it out.

Like this one. A mutual friend told me Kelly had painted me as a pirate girl with her limbs hacked off (which I thought was funny because we might have had a tiff). But the girl in that painting didn't look anything like me. Then Kelly sent the below image to me. The eyes are totally me. It's almost eerie. If you compare it to the pink painting above, you'll see the similarities. This is the kind of magic I love about her paintings.

And I love it when she does these black on one color pieces:

I also love when she draws on bits and scraps like the tags below. I wanted these. But they sold in a second at a Giant Robot show.  I would love to live in a world where all the girls walking around were a girl of Kelly. ♡

♥ GIRL FRIDAY ♥ GILES DEACON RESORT 2014 ♥

I have to really say (again) that it is without a doubt that Giles Deacon is one of my super favorite designers and I so so so so look forward every collection to seeing what he'll unveil. The boy's got some style YO. I don't really care what anyone says...you see loads of people...the masses...loving the regular players. But it's the select few who will follow and wear and invest in anything Giles. Why hasn't someone given him one of the big houses to oversee yet? (Well, I mean aside from that Ungaro fiasco.) For the Resort 2014 collection, Giles has some pretty fun shots in the lookbook, some great textiles that remind me of 80's New York train graffiti (and the 80's in general) and this print that I'm guessing is either tennis balls (seeing that there are so many tennis dresses) OR macarons? :)

if i saw this girl somewhere, i'd think she was a cool girl who didn't give a F what anyone thought

cute cute tennis dress. cute pistachio color

such a great very new york print to me. looks like a gallery girl

i want this dress. :)

so girly and tongue in cheek this one.

i want this dress, too!

i want this, too! what a great summer vacation dress!!! with big hat or hair scarf and big glasses.

i want this dress, too!!

i would take the top alone. i'm petite enough that it would work as a dress on me.

♥ GIRL FRIDAY ♥ ELLEN VON UNWERTH'S PHOTO BOOTH ♥

I love everything about this shoot for Italian Vogue. Readers of Nancy Girl will know how much I love this magazine and how I've used it in everything I do since I was in high school. Someone who works in fashion in my family told me eons ago when I was a wee teen that it was THE fashion bible and he was right. It's leaps and bounds better over US Vogue. I think US Vogue is so so boring!

The below shoot has all the girl elements of a perfect Ellen Von Unwerth..sexiness, fun and good faces. There's a girl below for almost everyone. I love the makeup and the outfits. I can't wait to go shopping one day soon...one day...♥
