♥ GIRL FRIDAY ♥ MATERIAL GIRL ISSUE 14 PRETTY PRETTY STORY ♥

I just had to post this editorial as well as another one for the Saturday post because they're both so gorgeous! I think I should pitch them. I've never properly pitched them before (as a writer/contributor), but I think I should. Because I just love love their magazine. I love Lula, too...but upon research I think Lula ripped Material Girl off right down to the tag line...(Material Girl's is "MY LUXURY DIARY" and Lula's is "GIRL OF MY DREAMS"...they're not the same, but they're the same vibe. I still love Lula, but I love love Material Girl magazine, too.

Anyway...here is a lovely story from an older issue. But no matter, it's still lovely as ever. I'll look for the credits and add them when I find them. I'll be posting up another story that's sort of mermaid-y (!) from the current issue. Stay tuned!♥

♥ LOOKING BACK ♥ VOGUE 2003 ALICE IN WONDERLAND DESIGNERS STORY ♥

I had intended on posting up something else today. But then I came upon this story by accident. Notice how some of these designers aren't really in Vogue very much at all anymore. My how times have changed. Lovely little story with model Natalia Vodianova and a few very important designers all shot by Annie Lebovitz. Some of the designers featured are: Tom Ford (where was TF in 2003?), Marc Jacobs, Karl Lagerfeld, Viktor & Rolf, Donatella Versace, Christian Lacroix (will he come back?), Jean Paul Gaultier, Olivia Theyskens (I think he might have been at Nina Ricci then?), Nicolas Ghesquiere (not at or was at Balenciaga then? I can't remember) and John Galliano (who of course was head of his namesake label as well as Dior). ♥

i think viktor and rolf designers as tweedle dee and tweedle dum is the best shot out of the bunch.

♥ GIRL FRIDAY ♥ THE BEAUTY PROFESSOR RACHEL ANISE ♥

So I wanted to showcase another YouTube beauty lady that I have been loving and learning a lot from lately...she's THE BEAUTY PROFESSOR and her real name and channel are Rachel Anise. She has a successful blog, but I guess her YouTube channel is a bit newer. This girl is SMART. Just listen to her lingo. She obviously has a really high I.Q. as well as exquisite high-end, uber-exclusive taste, which I like, because you get to hear the dish on some products most of the other thousands of YouTubers never ever talk about. She's also quite pretty, in a kind of (young) Bo Derek way (she could also be a character from my novel, too), with giant saucer eyes and very pretty hair. I also love how her smokey eye day look is so wearable. I am attempting to copy this without looking like a hooker at the grocery store...she makes it look so easy. But it's really her skincare and beauty suggestions that I am obsessed with. By Terry, le Métier de Beauté, Rouge Bunny Rouge and some other ones I've never heard about are always on her faves list. If you haven't watched her vids yet or read her blog, and you love learning about the goods (the real goods) from someone who actually buys and uses these products and looks great doing so, then by all means sub to her channel AND her blog. You won't be disappointed.♥

♥ GIRL FRIDAY ♥ SIXTIES BEAUTY IN ITALIAN VOGUE ♥

I had to post this short story up before it was too late...because sometimes I forget, and then it gets lost in space. So I thought it best to get it up today. I haven't bought Italian Vogue (a fashion Bible) in a while...a few months, in fact. But it never disappoints and I think they have their site vogue.it organized so neatly that it makes it super easy to see what they've done lately. It was shot by Camilla Akrans. I think the casting is awesome. The model looks straight out of 1968 and the makeup is gorgeous...of course.♥

OMGooooodness, people. Are you in for a treat! A super duper tasty visual and mouthful Hawaiian special from Amy Davis' Fashion and Food fun blog YUMMY DRESS ! She has totally outdone herself and you will no doubt go broke ordering all the goodies she lists (she includes all the links! And so many are Kawaii!!!!) Plus...the foood...the fooood! Plus just read her writing. I mean, it's just an amazing  blog all around from her taste and picks in fashion to her makeup (I especially always pay attention to her makeup because she is a Glam Goddess) and her food tastes are exceptional...plus, she always includes some veggie version for us vegetarians (and now Paleo's). She even makes poi sound good! I am showing you ONE of the fashion bits from the post...but the below illustration (by her of course) isn't even the main attraction! It's just a bonus!!!!

i wish i could draw half as good as she does :)

I am so so so wanting that Happy Haleiwa* bag!!!! (*Pronounced Haul-eee-eee-vuh.) I am so bummed I didn't ask Amy where to go when I went to Hawaii (Oahu) a couple years ago for like two weeks!!!! But next time I won't go without asking her for a list! Or else, I can just check out the CRACK SEED post on her blog and get all the info there!

Enjoy! She's at a movie premiere (she and her man Jon Moritsugu to promote their new film plus their band is playing a show in Chi-town!)...and I can't wait to see what that trip will inspire for the next Yummy Dress post! ♥

GIRL FRIDAY ♥ SEVEN DAYS ON THE MASTER CLEANSE AND UPDATES ♥

So, I have been sort of slacking on the blog lately. But I have good reasons. Very good reasons. I used to do a week's worth of posts in advance. Sometimes more. And I think I should do that again. But Sometimes I like to ramble a bit on the blog and post it on a daily basis. There are some more serious things going on but on the lighter (much lighter) side is that I've been on the Master Cleanse for seven days now. Today was my seventh day...and I almost thought it was my eighth...!!! Then I realized I started on the 2nd of March. :( :)

Why have I done this? Well....I have a lot of friends who have been doing this cleanse for years. Most of my super amazing hardcore surfer friends do this and one of them was the first to tell me about around 11 years ago. We went out for sushi the day after his cleanse ended and we were nervous about how he'd feel after eating sushi. But he said you'll be amazed at what comes out of your body (I know...sorry...might gross you out). I also know a really hot lady who owns and runs one of the best music PR agencies in the States and she told me she does it four times a year! She told me that a few years ago and sent me all the deets. I actually tried to do it once a long time ago, but I only got through day one...not even. Maybe I didn't get past half a day. The thing is, you have to really mentally ready. I mean REALLY AND TRULY READY. Then I think it's kind of easy.

I've been dealing with so many weird ailments. I think most are from my stress. This job market has really run me down. The environment here makes it kind of hard to sit and work on my new novel because no one here has any concept of sitting and working on a project...for hours and days. (Though I have told myself that is no excuse and I would start working on it right after the cleanse is over.) I have terrible allergies...really terrible. And my skin sometimes acts up. And then there are other things like itchy skin that I didn't have before. So I thought to myself that this was the perfect time to do it because there is just too too much going on and I need to get clean. I also didn't mind losing some inches. No one ever thinks I'm overweight and most say I'm really small. But, for me...someone who has normally had a very good in a bikini body and very petite....having even 5 pounds extra shows a lot. And I feel...heavy and thick. Which I hate.

The first two days I intended on starting to write about it, but I had the WORST headaches ever. I thought they were probably caffeine withdrawal headaches. I drink a lot of black tea. I don't drink coffee anymore. Once in a while I have one of those bottled frappuccinos. But other than that, just tea. I have around three cups a day. So the headaches were crazy. I felt like someone was nailing something into my eye sockets. The third day I had a stiff painful neck and a kind of weakness. It was kind of hard and I didn't know if I would be able to go through the entire ten days!

I kept telling myself it would pass. I read as much as I could about the headaches which I guess you can get from either dehydration (you still need water even though you're drinking barrels of "lemonade"). I didn't notice the weight fall off like I thought it would either. But...I wasn't having any hunger pains for only having liquid for three days. I would just get kind of tired and want to go to sleep around 9pm.

The fourth day I felt so much better and I was so relieved! I could actually go for a walk with my dog and talk to people without feeling any excessive pain. I could watch videos that I love to watch (those beauty gurus) without shutting it down from the head pain. On the fifth day, I also felt okay and I was grateful. But again on the sixth, I got some more headaches...I felt a little queasy...you can kind of feel or I could kind of feel the toxins coming out and it sort of felt like when I drank too much booze when I lived in NYC and was hungover. YES! It felt like a bad hangover! Which sucks actually. :)

I started also noticing my body thinning, but in a healthy way as though I was eating food. I felt good. Although I am noticing a frown line now that maybe I got from sleeping with a headache and so perhaps I need to start saving for fillers....? :D Today is day seven and my body is lookin' good which makes me feel stoked. And even though I was worried I'd quit around day five, I can't believe it's already almost day eight and that means I'm almost done!!! Another thing...I know I mentioned I didn't get hungry...I did wake up on day seven (today) with a growling tummy. And...I never said you don't crave things. I craved so many things and crave so many things. But not crappy food. I am looking forward to the Caesar salad I will have once the cleanse is over and the glorious soup SOUP and steamed oysters on my Caesar...! YUM. And making some of the amazing recipes on Amy Davis' blog YUMMY DRESS (she just put up a massive amazing new post that's all Hawaii inspired and it's insanity! I'll tease that on here soon for you so you can check it out!).

Another thing, you are allowed herbal tea as long as it's not caffeinated. I have chamomile before bed and I went out and got some rooibos which is deeeeelicious. MMMMmmmmm! I'm so happy I got it. I haven't had it in years.

So that's kind of what's going on. New novel. Master Cleanse. Headaches. And sleep. But I am looking forward to writing about the Ungaro show which was awesome, as well as JCDC and some other smaller labels like Samantha Pleet. I'll have to nudge some of my friends who haven't sent me their interviews back. They're all so busy doing real things and not the cleanse.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask...but there's loads online. Hope you are having a fun night if you are out. I am not because I am tired and I have a teeny headache. But I wanted to let you know what was going on and why I've been so slow as of late. Please forgive. Things are moving forward and soon I hope to be in a space where I have my own creative corner again to do even more exciting posts.

love and best!!! xxxmt

a photo of this restaurant in nyc that opened after i left...but i can't remember the name. i just love all the sweets on the cart!

♥ PARIS FASHION WEEK ♥ VICTOR AND ROLF FALL 2013/14 ♥

I always love what Victor and Rolf do. I think they know what they like and they know what their brand is about and they know their girls. I love their theatrical craziness, but I also loved this more simple Fall 2013 collection that was in the same consumer category that say...Valentino is in now. Which is also genius. I love all the uber 60s micro-mini action and I actually own a few vintage pieces and we hemmed up almost that high (as high as we could go without my showing any bits and pieces) because that's such a great Twiggy/Paraphernalia era of the 60s (only they had matching panties to go with those tiny dresses back in the day).

I also love how much darkness is always in the collections. They team usually have this very dark Lolita undertone...or a stormy version of Little Bo Peep. I have no idea where this crazy dark Goth part of me is coming from (I just colored my nails a very vampy blood purple color...when I thought I was married to my toffee browns!)...but I like it.

i love that leather skirt, but i could never wear it...i'm too small and curvy.

oh how i love these super 60s suit-type looks...militarian...is that even a word? and julia nobis is working so much this season. she must be rich at this point.

i love these giant bow tops a la marilyn and diana vreeland. but i don't know how many girls can pull it off under 5 foot 10...

another one of these 60s military looks that i love. feels almost balenciaga-ish.

i love this. but as a coat it would be nice, too.

love it but not with those shoes.

i love this top so much. but again, if you're a small person, i don't know how you would pull it off. plus, i have a chest...these extra things on me don't exactly flatter anything.
i kind of like this scratched look in black and white. reminds me of stephen sprouse.

i hope this gets knocked off. because i LOVE it!!!

♥ MARC JACOBS FALL 2013-2014 DREAMY DOUBLE POST ♥

I read some comments about the Marc Jacobs Fall 2013 EPIC show underneath video and most of them went something like, "I want to download this and own it forever!"...and I think most of us felt the same way when we were watching it. I, myself, felt as though I was at a big-time show in New York...on Broadway that is. Or experiencing something totally ethereal that no one who missed it would ever understand. We were all captured for around 15 minutes...in awe. That's been the consensus. It was worth the wait it was worth the wait it was worth the wait....was the statement from every iconic editor interviewed on the pre-show by Jessica Stam (Stam Bag, anyone?).

I loved so many things about this, but I think the biggest thing I love about MJ is he knows me...he knows his customer as though he hung out with us during a crying session last Friday night in our room with our mascara running and our pot of ice cream in front of us. He knows his customer as though he was there at our biggest moments. He knows us at our saddest ugliest days when we need someone to show us we can be the prettiest girl at the party. And I really love him for that.

a total kate moss look.

The other thing I loved about the show was the shoes and bags. Python Mary Janes! YES! Can't wait to add a couple of those into my shoe collection. And of course all the "lounge wear" was super fun and the shininess of it all made me hope and pray for a load of cash to drop on these dresses and coats once they are available. If you've never been into a Marc Jacobs boutique, let me tell you...even the simplest of pieces feels and looks so sharp and tailor made and expensive. They look like their price tags, if that makes sense.

hello, lover

I was also loving that dark smokey eye...and wondering if this wasn't done with the new soon-to-be-launched Marc Jacobs cosmetics line...I did some snooping around and actually found one image of the nail polish! And be warned...the packaging is unique and amazing, too! But more on the makeup tomorrow!

i want this little bag...

I have enjoyed some of the shows in London...but not enough to have gotten over the MJ show yet. :) Probably will be obsessed until Paris. Happy Sunday!
