GIRL FRIDAY ♥ VALENTINO (GIRL)

Not Valentino, though definitely everything I look for in Haute Couture...fun, fantasy, vision, and balls to the wall. No matter how weird some might think these pieces are, I have so much respect for the ladies who spend on these designs and the visionaries behind them. Even though, for me, this is definitely a far leap from Valentino genius...I still love a lot of these looks.  (And the shoes! Those bow-toed shoes!) I have heard this collection called Valentino Girl, Gamine, and even Valentino Teen. And all would be accurate.  And I'd say any girl into fashion would freak out if they actually got to own even one piece from this collection. I mean, what are we living for if it's not to relish in daydream dress? ♡

A ballet jacket...or a birdcage? I'd die to have this in my collection. This is what couture is for...fantastic vision. I love how Hitchcock it is.

Anyone who's seen my dress collection knows how many pieces I have that are so similar to this, either with the colors or the big pink bow. I know it's sheer here, but the look is gorgeous. Not Valentino, really. But I love it. It's also very 60s wedding.

This is fun. And very old movie again. And very doll, too.

  Too pretty to be ready-to-wear.

A little red carpet ensemble for a fun party.

This might look a little poodle at first. But no matter...
I'd still be ecstatic if it was hanging on my clothes rack.

A deb coming out her own way, with a little tongue in cheek.

SHOE-ME THURSDAY ♥ CANDY FLATS

Greta Silva makes the loveliest accessories. Especially her flats, because everything at her boutique Après-Midi is handmade by her! She uses rare vintage bits and pieces, found here and there. I know a few designers who might find a great bolt of vintage fabric, but I've never seen anyone take some really old cherries from the 50s and use them on some homemade flats!

I do love these flats, because unless it's 100 degrees outside and I'm in flip-flops, I tend to wear cute flats with my sloppy wear on a slow day. And these would be perfect. Especially the Circus flats! And, they're truly one-of-a-kind, which makes your sloppy outfit truly lovely. Without even trying. ♡

Cakes and doilies!

"Topolino Galles" and little red velvet mice

 Circus flats!

the "Johdpur" blue cherry jelly flat

"Grigio" jelly flats with little petit-fours

WEDNESDAY WONDER ♥ ROGER VIVIER

The new Haute Couture collection by Roger Vivier ... fantastic and filled with fantasy. Shoes and bags fit for a queen (like a Marie Antoinette) or a queen now, if we were lucky. These look like museum pieces to me. It would be a delicate night wearing these feathered heels or carrying the beaded bags. When you know they're one-off. The white swan of all heels. A hand-beaded Chinoiserie  bag.  And a set of feathers that I can only imagine the most loveliest of fashion's followers will buy and wear (like a Daphne Guinness). I say it all the time, but these are the reasons why fashion persists and why fashion today...for the most part due to mass production and  homogeny...has lost a lot of its charm. It's fun to think there was actually a day when lots of ladies walked around with bags and shoes this way.  ♡

TUESDAY TAILOR ♥ MCQUEEN NOT LEE

It's still hard for a lot of us to look at a McQueen collection so soon after his sad passing. There's a cloud of melancholy hanging over that house that might be there forever. And I am also a bit confused. Maybe I missed something, but I think in the YSL documentary McQueen says he thinks a house should die with the designer? And that he would hope his house wouldn't carry on after he was gone? I have the video. And I'll have to review it. But I'm pretty sure it's in that movie. At least his successor is Sarah Burton, and she understands the essence of his vision and talent. It must be a daunting task to follow such a genius as Lee McQueen...and also highly emotional. At least for now, the house looks like McQueen.

I especially love these Chinoiserie pieces from the Resort collection. They are amazing. There are very few people who could get this look down. Just look at the details. I mean, maybe some people can do this, but they can't do it this way.

The Detail

And this bit... it's almost Egyptian... King Tut and Nefertiti.
It's absolutely gorgeous.

But that doesn't mean I'm still not sad when I look at this gorgeous collection. It is, after all, a mixed bag. ♡
