WEDNESDAY WONDER ♥ GILES

There might not be any bags in the Giles Deacon collection that just showed at London Fashion Week, but the sweaters are in the bag...or hopefully my bag. I would love love to own some of those "jumpers". But I also loved a lot of the pill-popping dresses, as well as the Band-Aid prints. Though the makeup wasn't really flattering...even though I love a glitter halo around the eyes...but it didn't really matter. The collection was still a win. It was just FUN! (Just like his glasses .) If you're used to reading this blog, you'll notice I love a lot of chic fashion, and a lot of clean girly fashion and a lot of fun fun fashion. Wearing a good piece that's a bit out there in a crisp way really can define an entire look and, for that matter, an entire person's take on style. A pretty dress with some kooky eyeballs done right (in a 50s classic way) can say so much about a girl. :) And that's why it stood out from the crowd and why it's totally AWESOME. ♡

i love this little sweater and the shorts, too.
maybe not the vest. but the pill dress is so so cute.
really fun and sexy dress. not every girl is going to rock this.
ditto...
i love this 50s comic book look. it also looks very 50s Frenchie to me.
sans vest, would be a gret piece with different shoes.
the band aids! pretty fun cute bubble dress. i don't know who would wear it, but it would be great editorial.
very sweet and then you look close and see how fun the print is.
i LOVE LOVE this dress. even though the size of the teacup skirt is pretty huge. it's soooo girly i LOVE it!
and look at the manicure the models got for the show! googly eyed nails!

TUESDAY TAILOR ♥ RICHARD NICOLL

I met Richard Nicoll on a trip to London right before Paris Fashion Week a few years ago. Around five. A group of us including staff from Intersection magazine and Richard were going to take a car trip to Paris for the shows and parties. (You can read a little bit about it here .) At the time I knew he was a designer, but I wasn't totally familiar with his work. We sat in the back seat for the long-ish journey past approaching-castle signs (which is really a neat experience if you've grown up in the States), chatting and laughing. He is modest, interested, funny, charming, fun as hell. (He also has very pretty eyes.) I think one of the first things he said to me was, "And where is your boyfriend?" The more I learned about him, the more I found him to be so incredibly unassuming and chill. Later that week the car party ended up at the same Dazed party together (a few of us were connected to Dazed, including moi) which was filled with some of the prettiest girls I've ever seen. They looked like they walked out of a story book. And Richard was right there with me, spinning me around and admiring all the pretty girls (including Kate Moss) and their pretty styles. What I got was that he really understood "the feminine" and appreciated it in his very own way. It was great fun and I was really sad to leave that year. We were all exhausted on the drive back to London after that week. So now...whenever I see his new lines, I feel very strange in a good way. I've always loved his unique vision for women and/in fashion. And I think this is my favorite collection yet. I didn't stay in touch with him, but I do always hope that one day our paths will cross again (soon). ♡

Such a new take on a classic look and so many separates that can be worn so many ways.
Neat look. Old and new.
Chic.
I love the pieces here. Especially the skirt. And the cardigan.
I love the little "dress" here. And the pants separately.
love it.
So hot. And the color, too.
I already posted this look yesterday, but I love it so much that I had to post it again!

MODEL MONDAY ♥ LINDSEY WIXSON

Lindsey Wixson from a story in W magazine. She looks like an old movie star.
WHERE did little ol' Lindsey Wixson (Marilyn) come from? Wichita, Kansas, folks! In about a year, she's as huge as Lara Stone. And I couldn't be more thrilled about it. FINALLY some really interesting girls with some personality in their looks. I mean, there has been a long stream of girls that I like, but they all look the same. Way way too many Eastern Europeans on the runways in the past has seemed to  thinned out a bit, ahem. I also love all the new black models (thank GOD people actually woke up and started to use a non-blonde girl!). But Lindsey's look is neat. It's cherub. It's strange. It's almost Campbell's Soup Kid. And I'm stoked the new batch seems to be more character than mannequin. Which is a good sign for fashion and things to come in general (don't ask...I'm a trend forecaster. I just feel it in my gut.). I was so so thrilled the first time I saw Lara Stone in Oyster magazine when I was with them. And now I'm thrilled the next strange little thing is 15-year-old (yep) Lindsey Wixson. I think some of these new girls have old Hollywood star quality. So, because I didn't see too many crazy new makeup themes (this week), I thought would be a good time to show LW in the shows she's been in. You might not be into her. But I always gravitate to non-traditional beauty. It's just more interesting to me. And I'm a sucker for a heart-shape lip. ♡

@ JULIEN MACDONALD
REALLY ANGELIC.
@ MARC BY MARC JACOBS
SHE LOOKS HER AGE HERE. GIRL.
@ RICHARD NICOLL
THIS LOOK IS GORGEOUS. THE WHOLE THING.
and here she is in the new Galliano ads (she already did Miu Miu!).

Post Script: Because some of you have been mentioning the GORGEOUS meow meow (miu miu) ads, I thought I should add them here:

SUNDAY MATINEE ♥ LODEN DAGER

This is a new fashion film from Loden Dager featuring a track by Panda Bear of Animal Collective. Loden Dager is designed by Paul Marlow (LOVE him!) and Oliver Helden (love him and alex and matthew, too), who both came from Marc Jacobs. Though this film isn't for the new Spring 2011 Collection, it is new. I have a few pics of the LD SS 2011 Collection below. I tend to love the fall collections a bit more only because there are a lot of good sweaters and other pieces that girls can buy in x-small and wear. Loden Dager has dipped its toes into womenswear once or twice, though. I hope they get into it on a regular basis. I also loved the capsule collection they did with Uniqlo a couple of years ago. I'll be interviewing Paul Marlow on here as soon as I lock him down. He is amazing. There's some top secret girls clothing project he's going to tell me about! Loden Dager is so chic and has so many secret touches. I think of it as one of those labels that hot, stylee, in-the-know boys covet on the downlow.  Like Panda Bear (duh). I asked Paul if Panda Bear was in the above video (because he's talented but equally cute)...but I guess it makes sense he's not  (I heard he doesn't like publicity). He'd  look so cute in Loden Dager.♡

(post script: for the animal collective video below, i suggest headphones or turn up your speakers...before you listen.)

they do great casting...i usually crush out on one or two of the models. how cute is he?
just enough zippers
very yacht club to me. 80s style.
