TUESDAY TAILOR ♥ MANDY COON

As promised on my WEDNESDAY BAG post, I give you Mandy Coon...the first US designer I've been super thrilled about since I discovered Brian Lichtenberg and Grey Ant. Here is her current collection, Autumn Winter 2010, because it's so very cold outside. The photos are shot by Samantha Rapp and the model featured is none other than Jamie Bochert. The collection is gorgeous  and sinister and doesn't look like anything else I've seen here in the States. And yes, I do love that black bunny bag that is part of this collection. Have a look and keep your eye out...I'm sure we'll be seeing a whole lot more of her.♡

perfect casting with jamie here.
really hot...not totally my thing, but well done.
gorgeous shot and gorgeous hair.
there's that bunny bag on the left that i love love.
gorgeous color and looks.
both of these looks are gorrrgeous and gorgeously styled.
blush satin thigh-high spats (or are those pants?)...pretty genius.

POST SCRIPT...I think that Valentino for Gap collab is totally and undeniably aw-ful. Who's the moron who decided to team Valentino with the Gap? Just awful awful. The Gap looks so desperate. And the people behind Valentino look so confused and lost. I am hoping Alex at Searchingforstyle.com will do a post on this. She does the opinions on fashion. But I wanted to say it's a total shame what they're doing. The Gap needs to hire people who understand what they're doing...not people stuck in 1992. They've lost their watch at The Gap...they have NO idea what time it is.

MAKEUP MONDAY ♥ CALVIN KLEIN & COTY

Yep...One very iconic American clothing brand and one equally iconic cosmetic brand will team up to launch and market a beauty range in 2012. Not familiar with Coty Cosmetics? I was actually planning on doing a full post on Mr. Coty in the near future because I know a lot of great little stories about him and his wife (Lilly Daché) who I'll also be covering (I know an amazing story about Lilly Daché that someone who knew her personally told me!). So I'll save most of the stuff for that. But, if you've ever taken a stroll through your local drugstore's makeup aisle, you will have most likely seen time and time again a pretty little round powder box covered in cotton puffs. THAT'S COTY. It's their famous staple AirSpun Loose Powder. That sounds pretty smart. Calvin Klein is red hot right now, and it's genius for them to relaunch their product line, but do it with someone who knows cosmetics. Now I wish Marc Jacobs had teamed up like this, but maybe in 2013, we'll get to hear about that. (PS New school CK isn't really very Nancy Girl...but vintage CK (a la Brooke Shields--and Coty--sure is!)♡
iconic AirSpun Loose Powder from Coty Cosmetics
isn't the package so cute? i'm so glad they never updated it.

one of the best ads ever...Brooke Shields for Calvin. my mom had some of her old wwd's and i know we have this in a box somewhere in the garage.

SUN MATINEE ♥ PEE WEE & GRACE JONES!

I love Pee Wee. And Paul Rubens. I watched this Pee Wee's Playhouse Christmas Special and I was shocked at how many huge rad celebs were on there. But the biggest surprise was to see Grace Jones looking amazing in something that looks very Thierry Mugler. Plus, if you've done any creative or art directing, how can you NOT be mesmerized by the set and all the stuff that goes on in the Playhouse? I mean, that creative group that put the show on must have had the best time designing the sets and costumes and coming up with all kinds of rad stuff. I'd love to work on a project like this. Anyway, check out Grace Jones in her fabulous frock singing Xmas songs! Amazing! (The whole thing is a like a Xmas acid trip!)♡

SATURDAY SHOPPING ♥ CDG CRAZY HOLIDAY

Here's the new COMME DES GARÇONS window at Dover Street Market featuring the CDG holiday campaign:

the Comme Des Garçons window at Dover Street Market
What you actually see in the window in the image above is a confetti-like mess of limited edition CDG items for the holiday season. One of the best things Comme des Garçons does is all their special pieces. (Like the Kaws X CDG wallet that I own and LOVE.) Some of these new items are "polka dot teddy bears, colorful resin jewellery from Thai designer, Ek Thongprasert, men's heavy metal chain necklace from Florian of Austria, a lego block ornament from New York's Nathan Sawaya, a hand made papier maché covered perfume bottle, as well as multicolored patchwork knits and PLAY T-shirts, and not forgetting the green pink and yellow cotton shirts and matching sarouels, all from Comme des Garçons."

Here are some of the special items you can find at the shop or via online from Dover Street Market...and happy shopping!♡
