SUNDAY MATINEE ♥ MORVERN CALLAR

MORVERN CALLAR is one of my favorite films as well as one of my favorite books (written by a man, surprisingly....Alan Warner). The film, if you look at it for its style and art direction, is perfection. I had read and loved the book before I saw the film. That's always a bit hard because, if you love the book, the film can end up being a downer if they didn't do it right. The casting was on point, too, with Samantha Morton (LOVE HER) playing the lead role of Morvern Callar. I don't want to really give the plot away here in case you want to either read it or see the movie (or hopefully both), but it involves a novel writer and a publisher and a lot of crazy experience. But the film is really something else, because it's on another dimension from the book. You're not going to get much of the story from the two above scenes, but I know it will really peak your interest. You will understand what I'm talking about when it comes to style, casting and art direction. But, people, PLEASE read the book. The book takes you right into her mind. You hear her voice and see through her eyes rather than just having a fly-on-the-wall view. Oh...I forgot to mention one of the best things about the film...it was directed by a woman...Lynne Ramsay...who did an exquisite job. Bravo. (She's on the top of my list if they every turn my soon-to-be-released novel into a movie!)♡

PS......I love the MAMAS AND THE PAPAS....

And...here's "Some Velvet Morning" with Primal Scream featuring Kate Moss. It's a really good cover actually. And the images splashing on the screen behind them are by Julie Verhoeven (whom I also love). Happy Sunday.

SATURDAY SHOPPING ♥ CLEO FERIN

CLEO FERIN is a new girly designer from (I think) London, but reminds me of the Brooklyn kids doing some fun things...like how New York used to be when I was a tween and teen. All I used to hear was that there were a ton of really cool little shops with local designers selling their awesome goods. And it seems like it's starting to blossom all over again with creation, all over the planet. I love these scarves from Cleo Ferin. Most of these designs are available through Tatty Devine , or you can check out Cleo's site, too . I know a lot of you might not really wear scarves...but maybe you should consider in on occasion. Especially when you really don't want to or can't spend the time to really do your hair. I don't know...there's something really cool and chic about a 40's style Do-Rag or something a little more gangstah or even the Upper East side look (that's New York, if you didn't know). These are all 100% silk, which you really want on your head if it's covering it up so your skull can breathe. And they're all 65 inches x 65 inches (they also cost about £65). Would make a super cute gift or a super cute stylee treat...for yourself. ;)♡

GIRL FRIDAY ♥ ITALIANS DO IT RIGHT

I don't know who's running the show over there at PIG MAG , but they're sure do get it. I always love the style of the girls in their fashion editorials...it's exactly Nancy Girl. Or very close. I think most shoots try to capture this kind of rawness, but it comes off as over-styled and contrived. I wish Italia wasn't so far away, or I could speak the language, because it would sure be nice to work with those kids over at PIG.♡

SHOE ME THURSDAY ♥ ARUNA SETH CERISE

My favorite staple shoe is either a black pump or a white patent leather pump, especially if they're totally messed up. I know I tend to showcase a lot of heels with bows on them. I'm not a bow freak or anything. But some of the shoes I've shown look really cute because of those bows. I just like my shoes, a lot of them, to do something...or remind me of my favorite shoes as a little girl. :) These Aruna Seth wedges with Swarovski crystals and a bow at the back are dreamy. They kind of seem odd at first. I'm not huge wedge heel unless they're vintage 70s. But then look at the nude color which is so so perfect and sexy plus the bow plus the crystals plus the insides look gorgeously vintage, too, plus...I think they're a little rockstar girl goes to the grocery store to pick up some milk. I like my run-around shoes to be a little flash so if the rest of me is played down, the shoes can pick it up. These shoes are called Cerise...which is one of my favorite names. French for cherry. Nude patent leather...it is cherry....for  £625.00. I also love the black satin heel version.♡

so hot.
