MAKEUP MONDAY ♥ L'OREAL EYESHADOWS

Today I have to do a post on these new-ish L'OREAL INFALLIBLE EYESHADOWS. I haven't really always been an eyeshadow girl. I have pretty big eyes and they're light. I always felt less makeup was more. But these days I'm reallllly loving all the gorgeous looks created by eyeshadow and that it's back in a big big way. But before I head on over and drop a bill or two on Armani or Tom Ford or even Chanel, I wanted to check out some drugstore brands to figure out what colors really work with my eyes. I did do a review on some of the Maybelline Color Tattoo eyeshadows, which are creamy and pretty cool. But I'd been hearing that the new L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadows are a dupe for the Armani Eyes To Kill shadows, especially since L'Oreal and Armani are the same company. And low and behold, the packaging is almost identical down to the little disc to press the pigment down.

These are pigments that are pressed into the pot. So the colors are super pigmented. I initially had purchased the shade ETERNAL BLACK, which looked like a dupe for Chanel's Mirifique. I am going to still buy the Chanel shadow, but Eternal Black by L'Oreal is pretty damn close. I love it. I can't wait to wear it to an even at night! Or every night when I move to Paris! :)

Then I started hearing that L'Oreal and Armani cosmetics were made by the same company and that the Infallibles were a dupe for the Armani Eyes To Kill, which I had planned on purchasing anyway...I had to investigate. I did and I was won over. So the next time I went to the drugstore, I picked up three more shades: BRONZED TAUPE, AMBER RUSH AND MIDNIGHT BLUE (which I love love love love love). These shadows are amazing. AMAZING. They "read" like expensive shadows. The colors are very luxury looking, if that makes sense. I dunno but these are going to be fun to wear. I especially love Midnight Blue...it reminds me of that amazing blue shadow that Nars does.

look how amazing they swatch! (though the very first one here is ice latte...which i didn't feature because there are a lot of shadows you can get that look like this shade...but look at the eternal black or midnight blue especially...! bronzed amber looks so armani it's amazing!)

These are my new favorite eye products. I took a while to get them because I didn't really believe they could be this amazing. But they are! I know Armani has some colors you can't get at the drugstore. But some of them are so close, why not get the L'Oreal shadow and get something else high end?

I also have some other high end posts that should go up soon on some amazing product I scored! Stay tuned! Below is a makeup look by Petra Kozina (again!) I'd love to do for a party one day soon!♡

SUNDAY MATINEE ♥ IT FEELS LIKE I'M IN LOVE

This is something I had never heard of before...I just heard it on an Internet radio station I've been listening to years because it's so damn good (I'll be doing a post on them soon...but it's 1.FM under Alternative, even though they're 80s...they're way on the bottom of alternative), and so I thought I'd look it up and see who was actually singing this song. It's Kelly Marie and it's called FEELS LIKE I'M IN LOVE or something like that. It's from 1980, so way way before my time...but I think this period of time when the 70s were melting into the 80s are amazing for style and movements and music and fashion, of course. The late 70s and the very very early 80s are insane. :) This is a video from Top of the Pops, so clearly it was a successful song for her. You want an education on pop star fashion from the 80s? Watch old videos like this...look at her make up! Look at her outfit! Look at those back-up dancers! Their outfits! And how perfect that one dancer's tush is! It's insane! So I had to post this up today, too!

I know I'm weird. This is why I do what I do...I hear a song I've never heard before, and look it up betting myself it's going to deliver the goods. And it did. (More videos with good outfits below! And the dancers make more appearances!)

AND THEN I KEPT FINDING MORE CRAZY 80S FASHION IN OTHER OLD MUSIC VIDEOS...INCLUDING THESE!(MORE DANCERS!) A group called TIGHT FIT I totally do not know. But they sound like an ABBA knock off. It looks like they had some success, too.

AND THEN...yes, more...I found this "group" that I used to hear my older crazy New York club kid friends talk about and say I looked like when they dressed me all up with makeup and everything...BACCARA! I'm so excited I am finally seeing who the hell they were talking about! Cute girls and style. Love them. So now after all these years I know it was a compliment.

This all started with me hearing a song on that station and looking the singer up. ;) ♡

SUNDAY MATINEE ♥ DARCEL DISAPPOINTS

150/15 from Darcel Disappoints on Vimeo.

This was from a promo that they did for the Colette exhibit celebrating their 15-year anniversary. Not the hugest fan of this artist...but I liked the video and it can be fun to guess who's who.♡

SATURDAY SHOPPING ♥ DEAR DIARY

I've been collecting...well, that's not right. I've been writing in journals/diaries since I was a teeny thing and could write basically. All the early ones (and some of the current ones) are Hello Kitty, of course. And then some of the others these days are those simple composition books you buy for a buck at the drugstore. But I like 'em. I always think that one day when I'm long gone (and hopefully a successful author), that my grand or great grand kids or someone else interested in my life can line up all the books and read my inner thoughts from beginning to end. One thing I learned recently is that writing your thoughts down, no matter how messy or abbreviated or untidy, can be very therapeutic on a very deep level...and in some cases can help solve issues deeply sleeping way inside your subconscious. All the more reason to start writing...

A while ago when I was staying at the beach, I stumbled into a paper shop that sells books and pens and these kinds of things. I found a gorgeous and very well priced fancy journal that I've been writing in for months. It looks like an old book, hard cover, with metallic peacock feather print (on black background) cover. Very...me. It's by Peter Pauper Press who make a lot of very cool notebooks/journals and planners. But for this post I'm only going to showcase some of the journals I like. Really....I'm big on suggesting people write in journals, especially if you are young and going through a rough time.

Here are some of the journals they have online that are pretty rad:

the cannabis journal...pretty funny.

this asian monochrome one is really gorgeous. it's the style that i have...it's big and gorgeous and only $15.00.
here is mine...the peacock feathers. you can't tell but the cover is metallic...the feathers are metallic. less than $20. would make a great gift.

i tried to take a flash shot so you could see the metallic aspect to this cover...not the best shot but better than the one from their website.
this is called persian splendor...i'll probably order this one. it's probably really nice looking in person.
how pretty is this fold-over blue cherry print cover?

or this japanese screen journal?
or if skull and crossbones are your flavor

or maybe you'd like a pulp fiction cover...they have those, too.

You can see more at Peter Pauper Press.♡
