TUESDAY TAILOR ♥ DARYL K FALL 2012

I went through my archives and was shocked that I couldn't find one post on Daryl K. I'm an old school fan of hers, ever since I was a teen dreaming of moving to the Big Apple. After I moved there, I got to do a story or two on her, and I frequently visited and almost stalked her Bond Street boutique. The communication with the brand has always been a hit or miss, though...they do a lookbook, they don't. They answer their phones or they don't. Still, Daryl K was always the designer for the Downtown New York cool girls. Way before everyone else. I read that she decided to close the shop, which saddens me a bit. It's another staple Downtown brand in New York who won't have a shop anymore (the other one I'll do a post about on Saturday Shopping). I also read that right before she closed the boutique, they or she (Daryl K) also withdrew from New York Fashion Week. Which takes balls. And that is something Daryl K has definitely had. She's always done her own thing, whether it be the best idea or the worst move for her label. Here is the Fall 2013 Daryl K collection, which I didn't see online during the shows. It's a good one and I could and would wear almost every piece. It might be a bit late, but I had to do it because (for me) Daryl K will always be one an original badass of New York fashion.♡

MAKEUP MONDAY ♥ CHANEL RESORT 2013

I can't say I am in love with the clothes or those pastel creepers or whatever. I hate to say it, but I wouldn't hate to see someone else take over the house of Chanel. Even though I love Karl Lagerfeld so much. Though, his presentations are beautiful. The Chanel Resort 2013 collection was shown at Versailles and the models were very Marie Antoinette-esque, which you all know I love. I love the makeup and the hair and the little Chanel CC logo beauty mark/patches. That's what made the entire show. Not these dresses and strange maillots. It's the makeup and some of the backdrop. I found the below and above photos on this blog (which is from far away looks like) and the photos are a hundred times more interesting than the ones they post up on Style.com or whatever.♡

looks like a card from a Chanel press kit. i have all of my old Chanel press kits which i'll def do a blog post about one day when i get them out of storage. they're gorgeous.

such a gorgeous photo...i mean, it must have been a really lovely show.

SUNDAY MATINEE ♥ RIP MAURICE SENDAK

The news that Maurice Sendak had passed away made me very sad. When I was little and had started trips to the library and learning to write...around the time I knew I wanted to be creative and be a writer of books....I used to check out the cartoon movie by Maurice Sendak called REALLY ROSIE. I checked it out countless times. My little brother even remembers me bringing it home from school over and over until I knew all the words to all the songs. It might not totally fit into this blog per se. But the Sunday Matinee's are supposed to be a film about fashion...or an interesting something to watch on a lazy Sunday morning. Thanks for inspiring me when I was a little thing, Mr. Sendak. I will miss you.I mean, who else would write a children's book called PIERRE?♡

SAT SHOPPING ♥ RODIAL BODY SOUFFLE

I recently got a deal on a big tub of the body soufflé by Rodial in the fragrance called "lounge". This body cream is rich in texture and vibe...it feels like fancy girl lotion. :) Rodial is a British-made beauty line and I love the entire range. The package calls this moisturizer a "luscious whipped body crème that provides intensive hydration without feeling heavy or greasy. The reviving and uplifting scent will leave skin delicately fragrant and silky smooth." True and true. It does an excellent job moisturizing my very dry skin (probably a little from genes and a little from all those days in my life where I sunbathed on the beach!) without feeling greasy. And the scent, though you do smell it very well, has a very rich (again with the rich!) but subtle-ish fragrance that's a bit vanilla-y. What I'm trying to say is the scent is subtle but you definitely smell that subtle fragrance. It's not too overwhelming or anything. This fat pot would look so lovely on a new vanity or a bathroom shelf that I frequently daydream about (preferably in a Paris apartment...patience, Mandana, patience). The price is a bit sticky. But if you're needing a treat or a gift for someone who really has everything and really high taste, then consider it. Perhaps you can find a deal on EBay or Amazon? My only complaint is that the package and the top should be solid or glass or something. I think it's just heavy plastic.

OH WAIT! It looks like the price has gone down quite a lot! I see it on the site for under £15! Otherwise it's around $40 at Nordy's for 6.7 ounces (200 ml). ♡

other lovely bits from the Rodial range. i esp love the candles.
