SATURDAY SHOW ♥ KENZO SPRING SUMMER 2013 ♥

Around ten years ago (already) when I was still writing for Oyster, Dazed&Confused, Tokion and a few others, a friend of mine in New York asked me if I had heard about this new boutique and concept called Opening Ceremony. She explained that every season they feature U.S. designers and another country and their designers. I wort about them, befriended them (Carol and Umberto) and went to some of their private parties (which were amazing because we all knew each other). I know their roots because someone I used to know worked with them in San Francisco before they went to New York. I think they were window dressers. Something like that. Opening Ceremony has always done good things. Cool things. But somewhere down the line (I haven't spoken or emailed either of them in years), they really really blew up. I had no idea they were now designing for Kenzo. I was excited to post this video because this show is pretty well done and then I saw their names below...Carol Lim and Umberto Leon. It's pretty amazing and awesome that they got to take it that far and they're there. And they did a good job. I'll have to look back and see if they did the last couple shows, too, because I liked them as well.♡

GIRL FRIDAY ♥ RED VALENTINO SPRING SUMMER 2013 ♥

I love the Valentino diffusion line RED VALENTINO. I and I love their lookbooks. They're so so girly and young. And they really go for it. It's all on point. Here's the new Spring Summer 2013 looks that I really loved...there are some other looks that are really really casual summer outfits, but I liked these other ones a lot more. I think I might have said it before...because I was such a big fan of Valentino and I hated how he was being pushed out. But Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli really make beautiful clothes, I can still see Valentino-proper in them and they're lovely. ♡

it's like a baby version of the big girl dresses.

i love this little suit and the shoes and the background.

i would love this little dress in black.

this one, too...

this dress is sooo pretty. i love the fabric.

this is a great photo. that dress looks very early 80s to me, even though it's not styled that way.

the little suit. love the color.

TS ♥ JULIE VERHOEVEN FOR MELISSA JELLY SHOES ♥

Julie Verhoeven is an artist I have been following for a long time. At least ten years, after seeing her stuff all over The Face magazine (one of the best magazines of all time...which was bought out by Emap and then they added some Britney Spears stuff and other stuff that did not belong, they lost their readers and Emap shut it down...sadness). I also got to interview her a few years ago, but the interview was so late that I don't think it ever got published. I did so much when I was a magazine writer and editor that I can't actually remember if it was ever published (because of the late deadline which was their fault and not mine). I also met her once at New York Fashion Week, methinks at a Jeremy Scott show. She was very sweet. It was that year she did all the visuals/graphics for NYFW.

This post is about another collaboration she has, this time with the label Melissa (she also currently has a collaboration capsule collection with MAC cosmetics). Looks like she did some really cool jellies and they are very much a Julie V. thing, with the colors and the little bandages all over there, too. :) The video is above and below are some images. I would love to own a pair of these. I'll see if I can post the interview up...in a few minutes.♡

this is an issue of The Face magazine from the 90s that has tons of Julie Verhoeven's illustrations inside. i own it, but it's in storage which is why this image isn't that great.
