♥ YEA! STOCKHOLM FASHION WEEK! ♥ BACK FALL 2013 COLLECTION ♥

I was super excited to see that Style.com was posting up pics from Stockholm Fashion Week for the first time! There's something about those Netherlanders and the way they see the world. They always look new/fresh/untainted, and the models are amazing to see (such a nice change from the regular skinny faces we always look at at every show). The clothes are fun and new, even if they're simple streetwear and the girls (and boys) are hot. Not that I'd wear the clothes from the BACK FALL 2013 collection, but I still think they're cool. I could see this collection in any of the magazines I used to edit and write for. It's a brand I'd be covering (and I might actually pitch a story on). AND I love love love those girls. They are gorgeous. For more, go here.

♥ GUEST BLOGGER MASAYO KISHI & HER IRIS VAN HERPEN SHOOT ♥

Hey darlings....here is the new post from our (now regular Nancy Girl contributor) guest blogger and amazing stylist that I worked with numerous times when I was with Oyster magazine (and others)...MASAYO KISHI...

Happy New Year!

I hope you all is doing well in 2013!  Here is my new work to share with you; finally it's out in the public! This is my Paris shoot which I worked on last year for BIG magazine and irisvanherpen.com. We shot it inside of an old theater, so you can't really tell we're in Paris. Hopefully next time I'll be able to shoot the on location in Paris (where you can actually tell it's Paris).

The photographer is my favorite duo, Iolex. They created beautiful theatrical lighting per usual. Iolex' works are tasteful. Our model Suzie Bird was beautifully androgynous and has the perfect figure for Iris van Herpen.

All the Iris van Herpen pieces I worked with from this collection were heavy but very delicate and fragile at the same time. They were like one-of-kind museum pieces, obviously not easy to carry/handle. You can imagine my preparation in Paris prior to the shoot. It was not glamorous at all.

Iris' collection has been shot on celebrities like Bjork and Lady Gaga and for numerous high-end fashion magazines including  W, Vogue…too many to list…but you can check their blog here. So I was very lucky to have several looks for my shoot.

Actually, I don't get to work with such a creative artistic designer like Iris often for my shoots in New York City. I was very impressed by her craftsmanship, and it reconfirmed (to myself) why I got into fashion back in the day/in the first place. Because a lot of these fast-fashion and fashion e-commerce companies confuse me and make me question if this is my ideal (fashion) industry...I was dreaming about this: how, again, I believe it takes time (as in a long time in a career) to make great creations no matter what you do or make...to reach a certain high level of creativity. How many times/often do you/will you truly impress people with your creativity (and creations)?  This is how I felt at this time.

♥ IT'S MY BIRTHDAY + YSL "SLIM MAN" MENS SHOW VIDEO ♥

I am not going to do my normal makeup post today because I don't feel like doing any work actually...it's my birthday (happy birthday to me!). But I thought for now I'd just post up this newly released video for the SAINT LAURENT MENS FALL WINTER 2013 show. Oh, Hedi. I don't know what to say. Again, this show/collection as a Hedi Slimane show/collection is nice. It's got all the Hedi elements...Tim Blanks called it something like "Slim Man" elements as a pun, and a good one at that. But as a collection for the house of Saint Laurent? I can't see it. I can't feel it. And I'm scared of it. I don't know what they were thinking...was Stefano hemorrhaging money with his work for YSL? I doubt it. Did they think what he was doing was too old? How could it be? Most young girls LOVE vintage YSL. Why would they dislike Stefano's work? I dunno. This is just weird...for a YSL collection. I mean, why don't they just give Hedi his own line again?

See for yourself...and I'll be posting up the makeup stuff tomorrow, most likely! Happy Monday birthday! PS I've noticed all commenting is disabled for all the YSL YouTube videos since Hedi first announced his first campaign. So many people hated it.

♥ SUNDAY MATINEE ♥ THIERRY MUGLER 1995/96 COUTURE ♥

This is the kind of fashion I watched when I was a kid and a teen. I dunno how anyone can look at some of the models and the fashion and the shows now and think they're amazing. There's only a handful of designer and models who are the real deal these days. If you know of these shows, then you'll love watching them. If you have never seen them, then they are def an education...get schooled today, sweets. Have your morning café or tea and sit back and watch the show on Sunday. xxx
