♥ GIRL FRIDAY ♥ CHARLOTTE RONSON'S LITTLE PERSIAN KHATAM DRESS ♥

Here we go again. The shows keep posting and I'm still bored. :) I can't wait for Marc Jacobs. Seriously. :) 

Although I was a little confused by Charlotte Ronson's Fall 2013 collection, which seemed a mosh of Chloé, Erdem and maybe Celine, I did like one little dress with a very very very Persian print. Looks like she literally saw a Persian box with this technique called Khatam (phonetic) and duplicated it to a tee. No matter. I still love it. Khatam is a technique where the artist lays different layers of wood and materials down and then I guess slices it on the ends to create those little dotted designs. It's a  very very old Persian art tradition. Wikipedia describes it a little better than I do:

Khātam (Persian: خاتم‎) is a Persian version of marquetry, art forms made by decorating the surface of wooden articles with delicate pieces of wood, bone and metal precisely-cut geometrical shapes.

I have a little catch-all jewelry box I use for my rings and things that my grandmother gave me with the same technique picture below). So of course I love this little dress. Persian...represent! ♥

Because of this technique, pretty much everything made is one of a kind.

♥ MAKEUP MASTER HELENE QUILLE CREATES PERFECT FRENCH FACE ♥

OMG this is the most amazing quintessential Parisienne look! Makeup artist Hélène Quillé is a genius! This girl looks so French! So Catherine Deneuve! So Bardot! Amazing. I just had to share it...it might seem long...but trust me! When she gets to the eyes, you will be mesmerized...

I would love to be able to do my makeup like this. :) ♥

♥ RED VALENTINO FALL 2013 ♥ HANSEL & GRETEL GINGERBREAD DRESSES ♥

I love everything Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri are doing for all the divisions of the Valentino label/brand. But I especially love this very little sister (or something like that) of the brand, Red Valentino, and the dresses some of my friends and I used to dream about. Of course the styling and backgrounds are always dreamy. And there's a bit of sauciness, too. I don't know how much longer I can get away with wearing little tiny dresses, but I'm going to do it until the clock says to stop it. :) I read in the review that for the Fall 2013 collection they took their inspiration this time from Hansel and Gretel, or their own interpretation. They also said that the Red Valentino brand is for a customer who likes to have more fun with fashion and so it is....see more of it here. I just chose the dresses I love or I love visually as a former magazine editor/writer and an art director. Listen, I love those knee-highs but of course not everyone can do it. But pretty much all  of these can be warn with some black tights, no matter how short they are, and you'd be totally fine. (OKAY...yes, I might also love this collection because I was in a Hansel and Gretel school play when I was very little, where I played one of the gingerbread children who came back to life after the spell was broken and the witch was shoved in the oven. :)♥

♥ MARNI SPRING SUMMER 2013 WOODEN BIJOUX ANIMATES ♥

Albeit I don't ever wear jewelry like this, I still love the way the Marni Spring Jewelry 2013 collection looks, because it's all wood and animals and funky...which is really very 70s. I do buy things like this when I see them at a thrift store or estate sales. These pieces also remind me of a wood artist from the 60s and 70s that I love...Pamela Weir-Quiton. In the mall where I grew up, there used to be an old play section for little little kids and it had all of her work in the play section. I learned about her when I was in junior high, because we watched a film in one of my art classes about her making those mall pieces and similar...but they were removed eventually when the mall was renovated and I always wondered what happened to those lovely play pieces in the mall. I'll post a video below of her work that you can check out. Marni should actually consider collaborating with her. It would be a perfect match.
