♥♥♥ ANOTHER VALENTINE...THIS ONE FROM EUN-HA PAEK! ♥♥♥

I just got another lovely animated Valentine...this time from another one of my favorite artists...EUN-HA PAEK. And...I just discovered she has an entire ceramic range, which I never knew about. I think I did something on her for Nancy Girl a long time ago. I'll have a look and link it here if I have. She has one of my all-time fave little animations which is magical and fantastical and eerie all at once. Now I know the universe is telling me to start my art blog! :) Hmmmm....could not find the post. She did, however, draw a little lovely something for a story I wrote on my other blog TEENY TINY FICTION...you can see that story HERE. And you can watch L'Faux, the animation I love love so much...even though it's very old now...HERE.

Okay..onto the lovely little Eun-Ha animated Valentine!

♥ HAPPY VALENTINES DAY FROM KIRSTEN ULVE & MEGAN WHITMARSH ♥

I received these two lovely little animations this week from two artists I really love and have been into for almost 10 years now (I can't believe it!...actually I think with Kirsten Ulve it's been way longer than 10 years!).

The first one is from an email from Kirsten Ulve, the most amazing illustrator that I am sure you've seen works from somewhere in your life at some point because she has done a lot! There will be an interview on Nancy Girl with her as soon as she comes up for air.

The next one is from artist Megan Whitmarsh, who has been making these little cute animations as of late. She's well known in that art "scene" I was a part of (as a journalist). I thought I'd include it, too, because it's sweet and aesthetically lovely.

This also makes me want to (finally) start my art blog...because, in addition to being a fashion editor and pop culture writer, I was big with covering the art boom for over 10 years...I've interviewed pretty much everyone except say Shepard Fairey and Twist AKA Barry McGee (because they had already been in every magazine on the planet). I have good connections and I miss writing about these kids. SO I am going to finally (most likely) take the plunge and get my art blog on! Stay tuned and have a lovely lovely Valentine's Day!

♥ OSCAR DE LA RENTA FALL 2013 ♥ LET'S PLAY: OSCAR OR GALLIANO? ♥

I found myself actually interested (as were most) in the Oscar de la Renta show. I mean, that's not to say he doesn't always crank out lovely collections. But they just seem to be kind of...old-lady meets dated SJP via Sex and the City. It looked like de la Renta...sort of. It was elegant like de la Renta...sort of. But somehow it had Galliano all over it, leaving so many to ask exactly how much he actually contributed to this show.

So let's play a game called OSCAR OR GALLIANO...

OSCAR OR GALLIANO?

i love this look so much with that mink top and that leather bottom. and that hat cloche gnome thing. OSCAR OR GALLIANO?

gorgeous dress! OSCAR OR GALLIANO?

OSCAR OR GALLIANO? ummmm....

what an amazing toile dress paired with leather opera gloves...OSCAR OR GALLIANO?

OSCAR OR GALLIANO? ummmm.... :)

OSCAR OR GALLIANO? ahem...

chic chic chic...OSCAR OR GALLIANO?

such a pretty 50s gettup. OSCAR OR GALLIANO?

OSCAR OR GALLIANO? hmmm. ummmm. i love this dress with all my heart.

OSCAR OR GALLIANO? is it a great ODLR show? or are we clapping for Oscar making a presence at Galliano's return?
No matter who it was, I loved it and it was a big success.

♥ MARC BY MARC JACOBS FALL 2013 ♥ SIMPLE AND BIG 60'S ♥

I read a bunch of reviews from the Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 2013 show on some very "reputable" sites who kept referring to this collection as so very '70s....! To which I bristled and got annoyed because I don't get how these people get hired. What exactly from this collection looks 70s to you? One of these newsgroups (a real newsgroup) actually ran a different review the next day with a very prominent "'60s" in the headline. Thank goodness someone finally knew what they were talking about. :) I thought this show was awesome. Though it was much better to watch in the video/live stream than view in these stills. I think it's very fun, wearable, everything is going to sell out and the boy model with long hair RULED! (He's so badass!) It's nice to that sometimes the diffusion line gets a little classy and isn't always so sportswear-ed out, because really young girls (and boys) today are so sophisticated...they'd actually dress just like these models were styled.

My favorite looks are the white print dress and the all-black look Lindsey Wixson is wearing. But I loved everything, pretty much. I don't own a lot of print pieces, but the ones that I do own are mostly from the Marc line and they always look really rich when I put them on. You can tell they're an original textile and not some mass market thing. I'm doing another post, too, after this on the hair and details because I just love that huge frizzed out 'do (which maybe could be a little 1970's, but it's still very '60s) and that plastic red pout (which is so easy to achieve now with all the new products out mimicking this look). The other thing I love about this collection are the heels. I am definitely getting me some of those. I can't wait for the MJ show now!

i love this look.
