♥ SATURDAY SHOPPING ♥ MARMALADE VINTAGE IN NEW YORK CLOSING :( ♥

I have meant to do a little post on some of the iconic shops of the 90's and 2000's in New York that have recently closed down (over the past year or so...). Boutiques like TG-170, which moved and then closed after they just couldn't make it in their new location. Another shop that I frequented in the Lower East Side of Manhattan was Marmalade Vintage. Hannah Kurland, the owner and a friend, opened that shop when the LES was still crazy scary and full of hoods. She took that boutique over from Aaron Rose (when he had it as the famous Alleged Gallery). It used to be on Ludlow...about a hop away from Max Fish (a sort of very scene bar where we always know we can find our old school friends)...which I'm scared to say might also soon be gone if it's not already. Marmalade always had the best vintage selection. I have some of my favorite pieces from there. Before I moved to New York City, I always stopped in. And after I lived there, I went in almost every day and befriended Hannah and her staff. I own a couple of vintage Lanvin pieces from there...a full-length dress and a giant bib necklace. And I love them. You can always find something good there. She (Hannah) really was a pioneer and really was one of the first over there in Downtown New York to rule that vintage look.

After she moved to Mott Street as a pop-up shop, it seemed like it was doing well. But looks like she's going cyber...I wish her nothing but success. I have so many fond memories of that shop. I'm so glad I own some key items from there. If you're planning on going to New York or you live in New York, please go by...they're having a closing out sale. Tell Hannah Mandana sent you.

♥ WEST SIDE STORY EDITORIAL FROM L'OFFICIEL SINGAPORE ♥

I love this editorial and I wish it was longer and not so cut up. It could have been nicer if it had full page spreads...like the way Italian Vogue does it. But I do love that blonde girl and her hair and makeup and the space in her front teeth. It was shot by Chuando & Frey, styled by Jumius Wong and Jack Wang, hair is by Marc Teng and the makeup is by Linsey Li and it's beautiful.

♥ RACHEL COMEY'S NEW YORK RESORT 2014 LOOKBOOK ♥

When I lived in New York, Rachel Comey was coming up. She was getting really popular, but I think she was still pretty small and indie back then. But these days, she's huge. I see her name everywhere. I don't know if I've ever been a Rachel Comey girl...but I have loved some of the pieces from past collections. I did like this new Resort 2014 collection and lookbook featuring one very pretty girl and one very pretty transgender (methinks? I can't remember his name...but I know he does a LOT of modeling) boy/girl... I also love the eye makeup on the girl. That's the eye I've been working, even during the summer. Even with blonde hair.... :)

I think the collection and the models really reflect that downtown New York girl. Or maybe now it's that Brooklyn girl. I can see these girls as being truly authentic. I think Rachel Comey knows these girls through and through.

so so pretty. the girl on the right.

great face. i love that eye makeup. that full, swiss chocolate shadow.

♥ THE NEW SUMMER LOOK FROM ROUGE BUNNY ROUGE VIDEO ♥

OMG. This new video from Rouge Bunny Rouge unveiling their new summer look is just so pretty....from the model to the music. And that dress. It's a great branding video. Totally defines the brand. I think that Seth Akins (who has his own amazing channel and blog) is behind this channel and behind the video, too, because he was recently hired to do these kinds of PR vids for the brand. And he is a perfect choice, too. I haven't tried anything from RBR, though I've wanted to and this video makes me want to even more!

Here's the description for the look in the video from their YouTube channel:

The second chapter of our Enchanted Journey draws from the graceful mystique of the lost civilization that is 'Atlantis'.

The look is ethereal and pure, inspired by the legendary isle that is brimming with magnificent palaces and temples, and was the domain of an ideal society. Within one fateful day and night the realm was devoured by the ocean's gargantuan embrace, leaving only whispers of a glorious existence.

'Atlantis' catches these poignant echoes and lets them flourish once more - this time by celebrating a healthy, nude look and the dewy, luminous glow of supernatural majesty.
The subtlest hints of colour bestow a healthy, nude look and wistful, mesmerising quality. The incredible light touch of Aqua Primer PRELUDE IN THE CLOUDS brings a gorgeous softness to skin, while Highlighting Liquid SEAS OF ILLUMINATION ensures a fresh radiance. These invisible wonders work hard without trace to provide an effortless beauty. Magnitude Mascara UBIQUITOUS in glistening hues of 'Almandine' or 'Titanian' give lashes an enhanced dimension and superior luminosity, while XXX Lip Plump SWELL BLISS adds resplendent volume to your enigmatic smile.
