Wow...It's been 8 YEARS since I posted on here. UNREAL!  I might be back ... I am just trying to figure out how to update everything on here. Without losing that old-school vibe. A lot has happened in the past 8 years. Some good. Some not so good. But I hope you are all well and healthy. I know it says photobucket up in the corner of my pages, but I do not see anything on my layout that can remedy that atm...so  give me a second while I update everything. I want to primarily focus on skincare and cosmetics, since that is my forté, but also just pop in whenever I think there's something cool to cover.

I have so much I want to share though...like how I have so many new favorites and I finally got my hands on Canmake! 

I hope you are all well and not freaking out...there's so much to go over...so much to catch up on...how will I ever get there??? I feel like a new person these days...and so much has gone on! OI VEY!

If and when I come back, I don't think the blog will be as structured as it was before with the same features every week...I will just feature what I want from now on. But I don't know when I'll start up again. I just needed to stop for a while. But maybe it will be fun to write on this soon. I am writing a new book, though, and it's almost done...it's a story about something and love or love and something (secret!)...so that's taking a lot of my writing time...please forgive me. :)

How are you? I never thought I was going to take such a long break. I just needed some time to take care of other things and I was feeling kind of uninspired to blog about anything. Just a little update. Times have been hard on me right now. I don't feel too good. I haven't watched any of the shows. I don't feel like writing about fashion right now. I just have a lot going on and it will pass. But this is why I've been gone. I'll be back, and probably soon. Hopefully this week. I hope you are all enjoying the shows. ♥ TUESDAY TAILOR ♥ KAREN WALKER SPRING SUMMER 2014 ♥

I have been so out of it lately. I don't know what's going on, but I haven't even been really interested in fashion week. I don't know if it's a good thing or a change thing or I've been really tired or what. I am excited for some book news that I will be sharing soon...but there is a book blog tour coming up in October, the ebooks are now available (esp for Kindle and IBooks) and there's a huge book club reviewing my book. Or discussing it. There are also lots of fun things coming up and exciting news. And a lot of guest posts and some fun news from creative people I know. I also went to Daiso Japan for the first time yesterday and it was so much fun. But I didn't feel like taking pictures. Maybe I'll do a blog post on what I picked up there. 

Anyway, I like this new Karen Walker show. I really love this designer and I like how she's ahead of the game...now that everyone has been walking around in tight little hotpants, the opposite look is about to be cool....a look I haven't seen since the early 1980's...that very very baggy Bag Lady Chic...they actually used to call it that! It's the only way it can go. When we get visually tired of looking at the same thing, the wave shifts and we always end up going somewhere that feels odd and looks weird and departed and that's why it looks fresh. The problem is I didn't pick a lot of those bag lady chic images...oops! You can see the entire show here.♥

♥ MARC JACOBS BEAUTY: HOW TO GET THE VAMP LOOK VIDEO ♥

I do love love this video. Of course I love Marc Jacobs. I did try that foundation and I wasn't won over. But I am sure they will come out with more foundation soon. I love the lip color in Moody Margot. :) I do hope not all the models they use for Marc Beauty are 12. She is literally like 12 or 13. :/♥

GUEST BLOGGER ♥ KELLY TUNSTALL & HER SHOW W/ FERRIS PLOCK PART 3

Here is the follow-up guest blog post from KELLY TUNSTALL! For part one, go here. She was nice enough to take some shots and a video of the opening she and her artist/collaborator husband Ferris Plock had for their show in San Francisco. :) That was a mouthful.

We hung the show- which in this case meant that I arranged the pieces and John from FFDG, and my stalwart supporter for many years, hung them. Since I had Gus in a front pack, I also made our helper, Ryan, come and move things and do awesome hanging perfection stuff. (which i fully admit i cannot do) he helped a lot through my recent pregnancy, when I couldn't lift anything and Ferris and Brixton (our 3, now almost 4-year old) were out expending energy.

 

Anyhow, the show looked great and Ferris and I ate at farina pizzeria beforehand. we don't get out that much (even semi-alone) these days, so it was really nice.

IT was a perfect night for an opening. lots of friends, lots of visitors, and great tattoos. The Clement tattoo is from someone who was raised in our neighborhood, and this fabulous lady had all kinds of radness- the no way hand, and the sides of her neck were done with flowers for California and the other side for Minnesota (not shown).  

Fellow SF artists Brian Barneclo, David Choong Lee (with his lady Sori Kim), and Brett Amory swung through. Did I mention there was Tecate? there was.

I have painted our friend Mariah for both FFDG shows; she has amazing t-shirts that she's made over the years, so I asked her if she had one that tied into this show- last year I painted her "Bring me your finest meats and cheeses" and this year,"What a tangled web we weave".

Gus was with us all night- awake until 1- and we shut it down. Thanks for following along on our little adventure!

I am so sorry but things are really busy thankfully and I am behind on my blogging! But but but...fashion week is upon us and I have to get a bunch of posts up soon...before the circus really begins (though it has)...

So I will start doing some posts, prob a couple at least today, to catch up. 

Thanks for sticking around. It's not always like this (as you can see from past years), but lately things are really moving along. I have a blog tour coming up for the release of ebook editions of my novel and a few interviews are coming up and I am also working on a new novel. I have also gone through some job interviews, have a new agent repping me as a photo art director...lots of stuff! I'm also figuring out where I want to live!!! And there is a heat wave!

I absolutely love love this hair story editorial from Elle Bulgaria. I also love the model, Sarah Baumann, who looks very very young. But I think she's adorable here. I love the color and the big curls and the lack of makeup. I wish the trend for huge curly hair would return and all these straight hair styles would die for a while. :) You can see more about this story here.

I haven't watched this yet. But I plan to this week. The way Alexander McQueen died still makes me so very sad. That he was suffering so much...that he felt there was no way to end the pain other than end his own life. :( Just so so sad. I watched the beginning of this and it looks very very good.

I love this boy's channel. His name is Sebastian Simon and I totally support his scene. I'm actually subscribed to a lot of those androgynous channels, because those boys are interesting and they really know how to use makeup and hair products...I mean, they're boys...and they end up looking like the cutest girls ever! It's an art really. Plus, Sebastian is just a sweet/nice person. And I love his videos. Especially this one on braided hair tutorials (I think he's actually a hair dresser/stylist).

♥♥♥♥♥ HOW NAIL POLISH CAN SAY A LOT AND FEEL LUCKY ♥♥♥♥♥

I wanted to do a little post on this nail polish I wore for my meeting. Whenever I'm going to a meeting or an interview (as in a gig interview), I always think about my nail polish. I don't really think I'll throw on something neutral and beige (though sometimes I am feeling it)...rather, I tend to pick something I LOVE and makes me feel happy. I look at it like a little bit of a secret fun lucky charm (even if it's not). This past week, I had a meeting and I don't think anyone could even see my nails because it was over video :)...but I still made sure to go out and get something new that I loved. I had intended on getting a polish in a very metallic gray kind of shade, I think. I can't honestly remember what I wanted now because while browsing polishes at the drugstore, I came across a color that took my by surprise (I had never seen it there before) and there was only one left. It's a Maybelline Color Show polish in the color Twilight Rays. It's a black (I think???) color with these amazing duo-chrome (I think???) glitter specks that are gold/bronze and maybe even green. It's awesome. I don't like how it doesn't dry super shiny...looks much better with some clear top coat. But I still love this color. And I was happy I wore it with my white cotton top with Swiss dots. Good contrast.

I have a couple of posts going up today...but I just got this in my inbox and I had to share it. Or maybe I've had it, but I haven't had the time to look it over. I love everything Orla Kiely does and I will be getting myself some pieces this year. I would say, though, that in this lookbook, I especially love the shoes (!!!) and the girl with the strawberry hair (that is what my hair was, but now it's realllly blonde because of running in the bright sun) and the way they've clipped her hair on the side. I do my makeup the same, too. She's very cute, though, and her bob is really flattering on her face.

i love the length of these little coats. and the black socks with the heels. very skater-ish in a girly way.

i love this sweater dress...but i'd wear it in black or dark navy or green or something adn without that shirt underneath. and the clutch is kind of strange with it. but the dress (and the model) are cute.
