♥ ABOUT NANCY GIRL ♥

My name is Mandana Towhidy. I've been a writer, editor, producer, stylist, consultant, photographer and more for Tokion, Dazed&Confused, Oyster, Anthem and countless other magazines on and offline.

I've done a lot of trend forecasting (and was a trend forecast report editor for 4-5 of those years) for Ogilvy UK, HeadlightVision Ltd, Nelly Rodi Trendlab Paris, Lambesis Inc, and others.

I've also been an art director, culture and/or creative consultant on projects for the awesome  Wieden + Kennedy, Levi's, Nike, Gap, Target, Sephora and more.

I covered the graphic, graffiti, street and skate art scenes for over 10 years, and some people consider me an expert.

My mother bought me and taught me a lot about designers from a very young age. I wore my little YSL rust corduroy jeans from 3rd to 5th grade, when they got too small for me. I had a Pierre Cardin windbreaker type jacket that I loved in 4th grade and a Pierre Cardin shirt dress that I didn't like so much, but my mother made me wear on special days. I read YSL's biography in 6th grade, even though I didn't know what half of it meant. By the age of 8, I loved looking at fashion illustrations in the newspaper's style section and the fashion reviews in WWD. I also knew a lot about Mary McFadden Fortuny pleats (and how to keep them neat) and Ungaro, because he was my mother's favorite designer. I loved a little pair of reflective rainbow swoosh Nikes that my mom finally bought for me in the 4th grade. I LOVED those shoes.

My first published novel (ARCADIA) is out now! It's available to order on Amazon.  If you live in a country where Amazon takes too long, you can also order it here.  If you're in Los Angeles, you can also get it at Skylight Books in Los Feliz.

an awesome review and interview about the novel on VICE
