♥ SUNDAY MATINEE ♥ POV GIRL MODEL (A PBS DOCUMENTARY) ♥

Watch Girl Model on PBS. See more from POV.

I watched this film on the PBS.ORG site (I love love PBS), and I thought it was super good and interesting. I didn't really like the scout very much in the end. I wondered what she would have done had she a teen girl of her own. She has this big nice amazing house, and she got it by exploiting these very young girls. I shouldn't give too much away, so if you don't want to know anymore then stop reading here...BUT she does say a big fat lie at the end.

I've always been interested in this "models-off-to-Japan" thing. As far as I can remember, even way back in high school with some of the girl models there, hearing them say they're off to Japan for the entire summer. I even know of one up-n-coming model going to Japan right now. Though, she's with a very good agency in London. But you do hear about this a lot. And this does really show how they take a 12-year-old girl and make her look like a sexy 25 year old. I dunno. It's very good. I think it's a great film if you have a daughter who is obsessed with model-dom.

Happy Easter! I wish I was little and could go East egg hunting! x♥

♥ GIRL FRIDAY ♥ THE BEAUTY PROFESSOR RACHEL ANISE ♥

So I wanted to showcase another YouTube beauty lady that I have been loving and learning a lot from lately...she's THE BEAUTY PROFESSOR and her real name and channel are Rachel Anise. She has a successful blog, but I guess her YouTube channel is a bit newer. This girl is SMART. Just listen to her lingo. She obviously has a really high I.Q. as well as exquisite high-end, uber-exclusive taste, which I like, because you get to hear the dish on some products most of the other thousands of YouTubers never ever talk about. She's also quite pretty, in a kind of (young) Bo Derek way (she could also be a character from my novel, too), with giant saucer eyes and very pretty hair. I also love how her smokey eye day look is so wearable. I am attempting to copy this without looking like a hooker at the grocery store...she makes it look so easy. But it's really her skincare and beauty suggestions that I am obsessed with. By Terry, le Métier de Beauté, Rouge Bunny Rouge and some other ones I've never heard about are always on her faves list. If you haven't watched her vids yet or read her blog, and you love learning about the goods (the real goods) from someone who actually buys and uses these products and looks great doing so, then by all means sub to her channel AND her blog. You won't be disappointed.♥

♥ ROMAN COPPOLA & WES ANDERSON'S PRADA CANDY FILM! ♥

I love everything Wes Anderson does...every since I saw Bottle Rocket in the theater. I could only hope one day that he'd make a film from something I write (I think I'm taking some screen-writing classes next summer! Weee!) I also love Roman Coppola and was supposed to interview him eons ago for Intersection magazine, which fell through sadly. I can't remember why. I think he wasn't going to be back to the States in time. But we had a great set up planned with a kissing booth at Venice Beach. Too bad that didn't happen. These boys have mad (Frenchy) style...they get it. They know this Francophile candyland like the back of their hands. So of course when they've been put together to create a new campaign film for Prada's Candy fragrance, it's going to come out amazingly well and funny as hell. Really. Just watch the clip(s) below. I guess for TV they'd break it down into three...and, like me, I am sure people will want to see more of the story after they watch this. I'm not even a fan of the fragrance, but this makes me want to buy it! The only thing critical I have to say is that Prada is Italian, but the entire premise of this campaign is French. Which is strange. Nevertheless, I love it and I love the casting, too. Everyone is gushing over Léa Seydoux, but I think it's the dudes...played by Peter Gadiot (Gene) and Rodolphe Pauly (Julius)...who are going to become HUGE stars after this. They're amazing. I think they're also styled after Jacques Dutronc...esp the hair!

And PS...here is a list of the music in the clips because it seems on YouTube that everyone is asking:
Le temps de la rentrée - France Gall
L'Idole - Jacques Dutronc
Il est 5 heures - Jacques Dutronc

xx ♥

I love these nails because they're black and gold and very very 1940s...but I think they look strange because the tips needs to be filed in a pointy way. But it's a good look, although I don't every really go funnnky. ♥

♥ IVANA HELSINKI FALL 2013 LOOKBOOK "ROTTERDAM" ♥

I always love the Ivana Helsinki lookbooks and films they have for each collection. It's never just a show of clothes...there is always always a story behind it, a tale in the photos...and it's always pretty and serene and maybe that's a little Finnish (they are from Finland, after all). The below images are from the Fall 2013 lookbook and they're just gorgeous as usual. Really beautiful story. To see more and more clothes, go here. ♥

MAKEUP XTRA ♥ REVLON STRAWBERRY SUEDE DUPE FROM RIMMEL! ♥

I don't know if this is going to really translate in the photo, but I promise if you still own Revlon's now-discontinued lipstick is Strawberry Suede, then you will LOVE LOVE Rimmel's Kate Matte lipstick in the color 109! I bought a couple of the Revlon lipsticks from Ebay after hearing makeup maven Lisa Eldridge swoon on about it. And yes...it is as amazing as she says. A very strawberry-stain, coral lip color. It's amazing. But the other day I was looking at the new Kate colors Rimmel recently came out with (I love the formula and the smell of these and I think they compare to any high end lip products...), and I was immediately in love with the color 109, which is a pinkish coral (like Strawberry Suede). On a whim I decided to swatch them next to each other and I was pretty surprised to see they look almost identical. The Rimmel lipstick is a teeeeeeeeny tiny bit less red and less matte and maybe a teeeeeny bit more coral. But once you blot the Revlon lipstick, they look pretty identical. I mean, they really look identical. If the textures were identical, it would be even harder to see. 109 is just a bit lighter, as I have said. But they could be sister lipsticks, so to speak. So I sent Lisa Eldridge a tweet and she replied immediately with joy! Let's see if she likes the Rimmel color enough to include it in an upcoming vid!

on top: revlon strawberry suede...on bottom rimmel kate in 109. natural light. on my lips, they look the same.
both lipstick blotted...top revlon's strawberry suede and bottom is rimmel's kate 109

lisa eldride and her strawberry suede obsession.

here's a better swatch of the rimmel 109 i found online. look how close that is to strawberry suede!

If you loved Strawberry Suede, trust me and try Rimmel's Kate 109 lipstick. I don't know if it really shows how similar they are in the photos. But in real life and on my lips, no one would know the difference. ♥

♥ BEAUTIFUL MAKEUP IN COVER MAGAZINE BY ANYA DE TOBON ♥

I have no idea what Cover magazine is (there are so many new magazines these day and they all kind of could be the same magazine...one long one), but that doesn't matter. You might have just seen this is you sub to Fashion Gone Rogue. I think the model is a bit to 12-year-old thin...but the makeup and hair color is awesome. My hair is now a bit lighter or a lot lighter than this. And these are my favorite colors for face. Especially the lips. It was such a great story, I had to post it up.

A little later today, I'm going to do my post on a really good dupe for the sadly discontinued fave red color of Lisa Eldridge, Revlon's Strawberry Suede (how could you discontinue a lip color with such an awesome name???). The dupe I found is a very very VERY good match. So good, in fact, that I tweeted Lisa and she was super excited about it. I have another bit to post up later, too, more fashion-y like.

To see more of the below story, go here. The makeup artist on this story was  Anya de Tobon. ♥

♥ GIRL FRIDAY ♥ SIXTIES BEAUTY IN ITALIAN VOGUE ♥

I had to post this short story up before it was too late...because sometimes I forget, and then it gets lost in space. So I thought it best to get it up today. I haven't bought Italian Vogue (a fashion Bible) in a while...a few months, in fact. But it never disappoints and I think they have their site vogue.it organized so neatly that it makes it super easy to see what they've done lately. It was shot by Camilla Akrans. I think the casting is awesome. The model looks straight out of 1968 and the makeup is gorgeous...of course.♥

♥ THURSDAY SHOW ♥ WHO'S THAT GIRL: CHIE ISHIKAWA ♥

Okay, truth be told...I have no idea if Chie Ishikawa is a girl or boy or a model or actress, pop star or stylist...but there seems to be examples of work in makeup and beauty as well as photography. If you know, then please tell me because everything seems to be in Japanese and I can't read it! No matter who Chie Ishikawa is, I love "their" work...I love the makeup and styling and everything I see. I've had one image (I will note it below) for about 4 years or more...and I don't know what magazine it came from or if there are more. But it's just amazing. It's one of my favorite looks of all time and has inspired a lot of things in my projects over the years. I tried to initially find the fashion story it belonged to via google image search. What I found instead was a load of other work by one Chie Ishikawa...and I LOVE IT!! And you'll love it, too! ♥

this is the image i've had on file for years...i love love this so much.
