FRIDAY FANCY ♥ CACHAREL GNOMES

OR, maybe we could call them nymphs, too.  Cacharel's Pre-Fall 2011 collection  is fun and fresh and young and very much Cacharel, thanks again to creative head Cédric Charlier (how gorgeous is that name?). But let's, once again, look at the casting and styling. Do you see how much it contributes to the story of this brand and, more so, this collection? I personally like a lot of the new tomboy nymph models a lot of the kids have been using since Nicholas Ghesquière used them in last season's Balenciega shows. But if this goes on for too long, or too many labels end up following suit,  though, the entire vibe will become stale and passé. Let's hope not too many more use these girls. Or kill this grunge-y look (yes...I also see nods to days-of-old MJ grunge). As for this pre-fall lookbook...I do believe the styling, including those little gnome-y hats, are just the thing that gave it its own story. A very young, fresh, forward one at that.♡

gorgeous red on red and a bit of black.
simple wearable and well-done. oh, and grunge.
so girly and chic and off. love it. this dress looks amazing.
love it. perfect pre-fall.
love.
really really love. perfect length.
the coat! love the coat! this is really chic gnome-grunge.

SHOE ME THURSDAY ♥ MANIAC METALLIC

These pumps are so GLAMROCK and girly at the same time I had to feature them. They're Brian Atwood's Maniac Metallic Leather Platform Pumps and the color is Rose Gold! How cool is that? I don't normally like that kind of bump at the toe...I don't find it too sexy. But I think this would be a great pair with some bell-bottom denim (vintage preferably) and a lurex top and some messy hair and gorgeous makeup. Anyway, I thought they'd be nice to feature on there. I think this is the second time I've shown a pair of Brian Atwood heels on Nancy Girl. I am a creature of habit, meaning I tend to stick with my favorite designers and I don't run to all the magazine-trend-brands just because. But a rose gold metallic platform pump? I think they needed to be featured. They're $540 (US) and you can pre-order them at Saks.♡

i think this view with the heel is super hot!
not sure about the front. but it's probably a different experience once it's on your foot.
so bright and pink and gold! amazing!

WEDNESDAY WONDER ♥ MILES ALDRIDGE

I'm going to end up doing something on Alan Aldridge, but I found so many gorgeous shoots that his son, photographer Miles Aldridge, has done that are totally Nancy Girl, that I had to post them! You'll see why! The below shoot was part of the THE VAGARIES OF FASHION series. I think the first part was with a baby and mother and this one with is kitties. This is so amazing...not only for the styling, but look at the sets. I'm going to use this as reference when I next decorate the bathroom. That's one place in the home where you can do anything...and it's ok. Well, almost anything. This shoot is very nymph. The image with the green dress is my favorite!♡

TUESDAY TAILOR ♥ UNGARO PRE-FALL

Well...what a match...I'm finally looking at the Pre-Fall 2011 Ungaro collection and recognizing it as Ungaro! Thanks to Giles Deacon whom I cover on Nancy Girl quite a lot. You see, as I mention on the "who am i" page here...I knew a lot about Emanuel Ungaro from a very young age...maybe 8. (Did you know when he was very young, he worked for Balenciaga before leaving to work at the house of Courrèges?) He was my mother's favorite. I knew about his signature florals and flash colors and draping. And I knew exactly what he looked like. I sort of wish he was still designing, but that's another story. Anyway, so it has pretty much been heartbreaking for me to see some of the cheap and (to use a word Alex uses on her Searching for Style blog) tacky renditions of the house's staple characteristics. For me, Ungaro was also so so very French. And so elegant. And free. And glamorous. Perhaps that's hard to do some for people and still make it young young young, as I'm sure the investors are nagging them to do. This Pre-Fall Ungaro collection from Creative Director Giles Deacon is a perfect amuse-bouche, so to speak, for the proper Fall collection. It's simple. It's very Ungaro. And of course I love it because it's young and there's some 60s thing in there. I see a lot of the signature attributes I mentioned and I'm so excited. I hope to own some of the future pieces Giles does for this house. Thank goodness someone was able to do it correctly and save it before it was lost at sea. The only complaint I have is the lookbook. The poses really bother me, for some reason. It just comes off as contrived. But whatever. It's not that big of a deal. It's only Pre-Fall. It's Fall that I can't wait to see!♡

GORGEOUS. I WOULD KILL FOR THIS DRESS.
