SATURDAY SHOW ♥ SCOGNAMIGLIO SS 2011

Who is Francesco Scognamiglio? Some of you might really know. And others might not even give his show a glance because you're only used to hearing about  Versace, Gucci, Pucci, Prada, etc and maybe  not Scognamiglio. He's one of the great designers who's created crazy good plastic get-ups that Gaga has worn for some major events as well as in some of her videos. (Now I've got your attention...but  now you're thinking...WHICH outfits?) Well, Gaga dons some pretty interesting pieces by Scognamiglio in her controversial video "Alejandro" (see below). So of course a lot of people wanted to see this collection. And it didn't disappoint me at all. Francesco's new collection was fun to look at...I'm sure it was even more fantastic to see in person. I like that he's doing crazy things in elegant ways. I mean, frankly, we're more and more hungry for interesting eye candy, even if we aren't going to wear it. Not everyone can design gorgeous simple like Phoebe Philo, even if they try. It's lovely to see new creative vision on the Milan catwalks. I love love it. So inspiring. Have a look and see.♡

GIRL FRIDAY ♥ PRADA SS 2011 SHOW VIDEO

I got a message from my very good friend Monique (a designer for a HUGE house in NYC) this morning that said something like, "Just watched the Prada stream, and I'm floored." She is picky. So I knew it had to be AMAZING. And it was. (See the video above.) A lot of it was very 20s and very very Josephine Baker , with the hair and the banana print pieces. Prada has had me and lost me in the past. And I think last season it had me big time (along with Miu Miu), and I think it has everyone again. Especially with the accessories, like the giant silver Mary Janes! There's a piece in the video of the show (above) that wasn't on the style.com site...most likely due to editing bullsh**. That's how it goes in the US (boring) market. It's the striped dress that looks almost like an old bathing suit on top with a ruffle on the bottom. It's gorgeous. It feels like designers/houses did one of two things this seaason; they either played it safe (and boring) or they went all out there. And killed it. Miuccia killed it again. And I hope a lot of girls get to walk around like an old Italian movie filmed at the sea. That would be another dream. Some of the stuff that's really getting attention makes me really excited because you know a lot of fast fashion (like H&M) is going to be knocking it off. Lots of stylee everywhere. (And I can't for Miu Miu!) ♡

FRIDAY FANCY ♥ D&G (LA DOLCE VITA)

I own maybe two pieces from Dolce & Gabbana. They have never been totally my thing. I think I sort of got bored of the same silhouettes they always put out. But my favorite piece that I own is the TIGHTEST black pencil skirt. It's very very Italian when I wear it. It almost looks Roger-Rabbit cartoonish. This new spring collection , however, had me on overload (I was already there from the Prada show stream...but this D&G collection sent me over the edge). It was just too too amazing and too too spring and too too me (which is all a good good thing). This collection, including the gorgeous shoes and sunglasses and big beach bags, will all sell out. The Italians so far are ruling it. Sorry, NY and London...Italy is on fire! All I kept thinking when I was looking at this collection was that I wish I was there and all I could hear in my head was "Marcello! Marcello!" (MAR-CHELL-O...as in Mastroianni)...but I can't remember which film the girl keeps saying that in... :) ♡

SHOW ME THURSDAY ♥ ALBERTA FERRETTI

Wow. I've never been the hugest fan of Alberta Ferretti. It's not that I don't think she's amazing or established or anything. It's just that maybe perhaps I don't run to look at her show first...or second...or third fourth or fifth or sixth. :) But this was the second show from Milan Fashion Week, which must be surreal to attend. There's something more elusive and exclusive about fashion week in Milan.  Anyway, I was so lost (in a good way) in her fair maiden/luxe hippy dream that was done perfectly and subtly. CASTING AND STYLING...this is the perfect example of this. These girls look like garden sirens. Because the styling, makeup, casting, accessories and colors were done so well, I would say Alberta Ferretti just shot up into the top five. I mean, I can see the same girls who buy anything Phoebe Philo creates  rushing to the stores to buy some of this Ferretti collection. There is something so Philo about these looks and vibe of the collection itself, but it maintains Alberta Ferretti's own vision. I have a huge collection of vintage that is similar this style. It's very Tuscany-meets-Topanga-Canyon circa 1976. And I am in love...

this dress is going to sell out. i mean, you could wear it a million ways forever.

Here is a piece from my vintage collection...a "hippy" wedding dress that I think looks like it could be a part of this collection. I used to think this was a 70s dress. But now upon looking at it again (it's been in storage for a loooong time), I think it might be 20s. It's gorgeous! ♡
