THURS SHOE ♥ DAISY PRINT PLATFORMS

I don't know if I'm in the mood for these DAISY PRINT HEELS from RED VALENTINO...but I still love them. I think I've def been in a more black, gray, dark navy mood lately. But once that passes and I feel like wearing my vintage flared jeans again, I would love to have these shoes to complete the look.♡

WED WONDER ♥ VUITTON & YAYOI KUSAMA

I love this little promotional film Louis Vuitton did about Yayoi Kusama. I have loved Kusama's work for eons now. A good while. I love dots. I hate jagged edges. I just love love her work. I hope she does a ton of stuff with LV. Because Marc loves her.

On another note...the book will be coming out soon. There is going to be a lot going on with it in the next few weeks. I think. Who knows. But I'm excited to share it with you. If you haven't already, you can sign up on twitter and facebook to hear more. The links are here. Thanks for reading!♡

MAKEUP MONDAY ♥ CURRENTLY LIKING

...or maybe also loving. I wish I could write about the BB cream I've been loving again. That was last week's post. I really love that BB cream. I have ordered the one for dry skin. The VIP Gold version or something. :)

I'm also sorry that some of these posts are coming in late. I've been getting things done for the book launch. Plus I wrote something for Blood Is The New Black...interviewed Christopher Bettig (he did the cover of my novel). They asked me and I said sure. I'll let you know when that comes out. And there are lots of other things in the works like talk of special editions and T-shirts and a website I'm working on...fun zines and other silly things we're creating for the novel. And there are deadlines. So it's not like I can just waste time. So sometimes I just get off the computer because I need a break. I'm sorry about it. But it's almost all done. :)

So here are some products I am really loving or liking right now. I reach for them a lot. I also don't really use my fancier stuff every day because where I am right now is pretty suburban. They don't need to be seeing me walking the dogs in Chanel foundation. :)

First is a L'OREAL NAIL COLOR in GREYCIAN GODDESS. I really wanted a true gray nail polish. But I wasn't desperately looking for one. But I found this by accident really. I was just looking at the new L'Oreal nail polishes because I like a lot of the new colors, and I found it. I really do love it. Sometimes it looks like the perfect gray. But sometimes when I look at it, it looks more like a grayish shade of blue. Which I don't like. So I don't know really. I am hoping that I'm seeing it wrong. But it is a very very chic shade. When it's gray. :)

doesn't it look more blue here?

this is how i want it to look all the time.

Next is WET N WILD COLORICON EYELINER IN OLIVE. I had seen a video with Ruth Crilly of A Model Recommends use a very pricey Sisley eyeliner pencil in "khaki" or something. So I really wanted to try the Wet N Wild eyeliner first to see how the shade looked on my eyes, which are green/hazel. Turns out the Wet N Wild eyeliner in olive is amazing. No wonder I couldn't find it for a while. It was totally sold out. The color is amazing. And very easy to do a quick daytime smoky eye with it. And it's dirt cheap, which is crazy. It's 99 cents! I wonder if the one Sisley makes is as good. :)

that is a gorgeous gorgeous color. that looks expensive. not $2.

The next is something I use with the Skin 79 BB Cream I wrote about last week. It's a VICHY  DERMABLEND Corrective Foundation in the color 15 Opal. I really love this. It's meant to be a serious foundation that covers everything. But I use it as a concealer. It's a bit too fair for my complexion. But it works great as a concealer and stays on all day long. And you only need a teeny bit. It's a French pharmacy brand, but you can find it at some CVS drugstores in the States, too. It's not super cheap. But I heard it was amazing. And I think it will last a long long time. I don't know if I would repurchase. If I can't get a better concealer, then I will repurchase. But I'm going to try Laura Mercier's Secret Camouflage.

The last one is the EOS LIP Balm. I bought one. Finally. In something yummy and fruity. But I can't find the name anywhere on the package. This is supposed to be really good for you and healthy and paraben free and natural. That's nice. It smells great. I love the Mod packaging. But this does not balm my lips. It doesn't really do the job. I don't know if I'll repurchase. We'll see. Maybe it softens up a bit after a while or something. It was only a couple of bucks. No loss.

I have lots of other really fantastic things to write about in the next few weeks. I have been trying out a lot of Japanese and Korean skincare and makeup. Fun stuff. And nice. ♡

WOW ♥ YSL'S SUMMER LOOK 2012 ADVERT

So here's the only image I can find anywhere from the Yves Saint Laurent Summer 2012 makeup collection.  And WOW. How hot is that? How hot is that styling? How hot is that MAKEUP? How hot is that attitude the model is emoting? This is like every fashion girl's dream to be THIS glamorous! Looks like the people behind YSL cosmetics marketing are going head-to-head with Tom Ford's makeup line...it's the same kind of vibe. That SUPER rich glamorous...over-the-top glamorous vibe. And...I LOVE IT. I can't wait to see the other images. And find out who art directed it. And styled it. And did the makeup. Look at her blue eyelashes! And ring. And bikini (methinks). So hot. AND ISN'T THAT ANAIS POULIOT?

That's a very very 80s/90s blue eyeliner. The eyeliner I mention over and over in my novel that's coming out soon (scary and exciting!)...is pretty much that color...that flash royal blue color. This entire vibe is very late 80s/early 90s in this YSL advert. And Tom Ford's is more 70s/early 80s. If they're sellin' with that gorgeously styled/made up model, I'm def' buyin'! If you guys end up finding the entire campaign online somewhere, do let me know! xxmt

UPDATE:
OK...it is ANAIS POULIOT. Terry Richardson shot it (it's probably my favorite shoot from him) AND the fashion editor/stylist was Joe McKenna. I've worked at agencies where Terry was shooting at least three campaigns at the same time....for different accounts. Now that I look at it, it is very very Terry. Doesn't she look up at him...like a pet?♡

that's hot.

And below is an ad I found that's from the Winter collection before...it's also gorgeous. I never actually saw it. It's the styling and makeup and setting. It's amazing:

UPDATE:
I sent a tweet to one of my favorite YouTube gurus to do a tutorial on the YSL Summer 2012 look...and she did! Love it. Though I would have done a darker lip maybe.

WED BAG ♥ THE YSL ARTY GOLD RING

Here is the original Yves Saint Laurent "Arty Gold Ring" that every store has ripped off. The copies look terrible to me. I haven't seen a good one. The real one is only $250. I think the stones are glass and you can choose from a lot of different colors. Plus, it's the real YSL ring. You can keep it forever and even after that. You can see more of them here on net-a-porter. ♡

TUES TAILOR ♥ PRADA'S "A THERAPY" FILM

Wow...talk about a BUDGET! Prada just release this viral which is actually a tiny tiny film made by ROMAN POLANSKI and starring BEN KINGSLEY AND HELENA BONHAM CARTER! I don't know how fabulous it is. Ben Kingsley is a great actor and I love the purple coat. But I thought it was funny and juuuuuust short enough. Any longer and I think I would have tuned out. I'd love to have a budget that large that I could hire the big names in film to make a teeny  video viral. Must be nice.♡

MAKEUP MONDAY ♥ SKIN79 BB CREAM

My new favorite product right now is the SKIN79 BB CREAM in the orange container which is actually called SKIN79 SUPER+ TRIPLE FUNCTION BB CREAM. I am now going to order a couple of other ones (the one in the pink container and the VIP Gold version, too, to try them out). This is my second experiment with BB creams. Everyone has heard of them, so I'm not going to rehash for you. I'm only going to tell you what I think of this easy-to-use product. First of all, I had watched a few videos on YouTube about these creams to make sure I knew what I was ordering. I wanted one with more functions, but more coverage was also a really big feature. I have a lot of pigmentation sort of because I used to spend days and days on the beach. Even though I never tanned my face (we California girls usually put a towel or hat on our faces and just use bronzer later on to get the tan glowy look), there is still a lot of sun stuff coming up. Plus some acne scarring. I am a low maintenance girl...but these days it takes a lot more work to look low maintenance. Which is why I was attracted to the BB creams.

my new favorite product ever. ev er.

I ordered the Skin79 BB cream on Amazon. I did my research first, making sure the seller was selling legit real authentic product. Apparently there are loads of fakes out there. Do your research. There are plenty of blogs and videos that show you how to authenticate the right ones. I was so happy mine was real. But I didn't get the two samples it said I would get with it. Oh well. It was also really affordable, compared to maybe my other favorite foundation, Chanel's Lift Lumière. I think it was under $15 (!!!) in fact.

The packaging is AWESOME. I love love love it. It feels like Barbarella makeup or something. It's very modern and stays clean. I hate when my makeup gets icky messy around the top etc.

The coverage of the triple function one is heavier, but it really melts right onto the skin. It's a bit light for my Mediterranean olive skin, but it's not so bad that I look odd or anything. It really looks great, stays on all day, doesn't cake. The only thing is that I have drier skin and sometimes I need a bit of moisturizer before I put it on. It covers a lot of imperfections, including my reddish nose (which I hate :) . I really really love love this product so much. On top of everything, it's a triple function product. It has an SPF of 50 (which I don't exactly know who would need that, but I like it! Especially when I go running in the sun). It helps with wrinkles...getting rid of them that is. And it also has a whitening ingredient which is great if you're like me and have acne scarring and pigmentation.

here's an advert for the bb creams. the makeup is gorgeous.
This is my new favorite. Did I already say that...a couple of times? I will be ordering a backup as well as another one after I do some more research. What an amazing product! These days I am more and more obsessed with Asian beauty products. They seem to be extremely affordable and they really do take care of a lot of issues we can have with our skin. I'll do a review of a new exfoliator from Japan that I've been using (though that was more like $40).

Again, if you order this READ THE REVIEWS for the seller and make sure everyone received the real product. I bought mine from this seller. And I'm just about to buy another!♡

See my post on the Skin 79 VIP Gold BB Cream here!

SAT SHOPPING ♥ DOVER STREET MARKET

I had planned on initially doing a post on some new things out for Spring that I am loving...but then it occured to me that maybe some of you aren't familiar with Dover Street Market. Dover Street Market is was concepted and is directed by Comme des Garçons creator/designer REI KAWAKUBO. I love what they carry. I love their windows. I love how they are constantly updating me on things in a very non-pushy BUY BUY SELL SELL way. I'm genuinely excited to see what the email is going to say. And sometimes it's very very little more than a logo and a few words. They carry some very special things in addition to all the amazing Comme des Garçons collections. So I'll save some of those bits for next week...if you feel like it and you're curious, though, you can go ahead and have a look over at the site yourself. Oh and PS...it's in London. I failed to mention that little piece of information. Oh and they  just opened one in Ginza which I'll include below.  Lots of photos from the opening of that shop. I love how they break it down to: first floor, second floor...

Actually, I did go to some private events in New York at a shop...but it was the Comme des Garçons shop. I don't remember calling it Dover Street Market. I'll post a pic at the end if I find a good one. It was a gorgeous shop. Felt like I was in some cartoon ice cave or Flinstones cave or something. The crowd was tiny...very exclusive. A lot of people were clearly friends of Kawakubo or DJ Spooky and I thin Nigo was there, too. But it was pretty boring and the goody bag was terrible. I remember being so disappointed. (I can't find the photos from the CDG event...but I'll post some as soon as I find them.)

Here's a quote from the site by Rei Kawakubo:
"I want to create a kind of market where various creators from various fields gather together and encounter each other in an ongoing atmosphere of beautiful chaos: the mixing up and coming together of different kindred souls who all share a strong personal vision."♡
