WB ♥ KAREN'S LITTLE ALIEN SUNGLASSES

I wanted to feature one of the recent shows here...but alas....I just haven't really been super wowed by the ending shows in Milan and the openers in Paris. I was happy to see the images for the See by Chloé show...but the images were so boring. I thought the Guy Laroche show didn't really look like a Guy Laroche show. I don't know. It's just the vibe it gave me. I wasn't totally in love with Rochas, either, and if you read my blog, you'll notice how much I love that label and the designer. So maybe this is a good time to make a simple post on the new sunglasses available from Karen Walker...I really really wanted the bunny glasses that she did last season...but they totally sold out. Here are the new ones she has available. I personally love the BETSY CRAZY TORTOISE square ones and the IRIS shades in black. You can see them all here. But I still want those crazy round Prada's from last year.♡

TT ♥ FAVORITE OSCAR LOOKS...ANGIE'S LEG

As predicted, there were only a couple of looks I liked at the 2012 Oscars and the rest was a big ass snooze. Oh well...maybe someone will have the nerve to wear a Giles Deacon next year.

My first favorite look is Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton. I love love love love this. This is going here own way. This girl is part of a club here. If you get it then you know what I'm talking about, and it's not about a club at all. This is so Marc. I mean, he loves girls being girls (and I guess he likes Tomboys, too, though...). The red is perfect. The cut looks amazing. That sweet bling-y ribbon pinned at her waist. Michelle Williams isn't really anyone I run to the theater to see. But she looked cute. This look of course makes her look very young and that will make her career last a little longer than if they aged her up. I think I heard her jewelry was Forever Mark. Anyway, I loved it. I think this is the kind of girly look Natalie Portman was going for but it didn't really translate.

I don't get the bag choice, though...a pink croc' box? I think that was a major miss...look how pretty the detailing is up close. I love that bow and the color of the red/coral so much. This also looks so Wild West.

i love the sides and the back so much.
The other look wasn't as "cute", per se. But wow...what a look...she looked like an Oscar. It was George Clooney's current flame, Stacy Keibler. She's obviously confident and used to being in front of the cameras (she's like some athlete wrestler lady?) which is kind of cool to see instead of the other girls he tends to date who were a cocktail waitress a hot second ago (no offense to cocktail waitresses...but you can tell when someone is used to cameras or when they are just all about George..if that makes sense). I don't know too much about her except she's an AMAZON....and she looked pretty amazing when she arrived at the Oscars in her Marchesa gold number. Notice how pro she is at posing–she does a little front knee bend and a bend back or forward in every pic...she looks the same in every photo!

it just doesn't look quite as nice in a photo...see, people...a dress/look might be amazing on the TV...LIVE...but when the flash makes it a still, it can kind of deflate. unless it's done for a shoot or something.

if i was her publicist, i would have asked her to stand up at tall as she can when she was photographed without george at her side...
these pics are not translating what i saw when i was watching the oscars. and they're not really nancy girl at all, really.
but look how pro she is at posing.
So...because I don't think the Stacy Keibler look in the photos doesn't really turn me on as much as it did when I was watching the Oscars, I'll have to add someone who has gotten a lot of slack for her leg...Angelina Jolie. What the hell is wrong with people? She looked f---ing gorgeous! She looked a bit too thin, but aside from that, she looked pretty amazing and I thought her pose was pretty hilarious and very old-school, pre-mommy Angelina. Her Atelier Versace dress was gorgeous. That's was an Elizabeth Taylor/old movie star dress and not everyone can wear something that simple...it's about the beauty of the girl inside of it. As for the leg...talk about someone who knows exactly how to work it...it's a massive success. She sticks her leg out for a few minutes and she has everyone talking about her and a twitter account called @angiesrightleg! Genius. Genius...♡

i mean...look how hot she is.
she def knows how to WORK IT OUT
this look says it all.

MM ♥ GUCCI FALL 2012/2013 BEAUTY

On a side note, I am probably not always going to write out MAKEUP MONDAY or TUESDAY TAILOR anymore. I think it's getting redundant and looking a bit...dunno...un-fresh. I'll just do the abbreviation and then I might quit altogether. ALSO, sorry for the late posts but things are a bit busy with the book stuff and I get kind of burnt out on the computer. But rest assured, I will still post...even if it's later in the day...

I have a couple of posts today and a few exciting posts coming up that are not fashion week related. Though...I can't wait for Paris. I still think the majority of the really GRAND shows and collections are during Paris Fashion Week. I'm just say-in'.

First, I wanted to do something on the makeup at Gucci Fall 2012/2013 because it was the reason why the show looked really good. I wasn't overly thrilled with the entire collection. But it was still pretty. But the makeup and the hair...were amazing. It was a bare brow (bleached brow or a "cam abru" as I wrote about here) and a wine/berry stained lip. I used to rock this look, the make up, a lot when I lived in New York. I think I wrote about it here a long time ago...how a stylist friend once asked me, "It looks good...but why do you bleach your eyebrows? I'm curious..." My response must have been something about love for the Glam Rock era and Bowie and stuff like that. These days I really love a full darker brow. So we'll see.

so pretty.

Make up was overseen by the amazing PAT MCGRATH and the hairstylist in charge was LUIGI MURENU. They made this collection look way hotter than it already was.

These schoolgirl hairstyles are so pretty here...esp for a Gucci show. I love that juxtaposition of a high end fashion girl who likes the simple girly things in life like a simple hairdo. I had that hair...when I was around 8 or 9. But I think it works so well here and I've already started to see it on TV people.♡

i'm thinking of going a bit more this color...
and eventually ending up at this color...which i haven't done in 15 years...

SUNDAY MATINEE ♥ EDITH HEAD...OSCARS

...REPRESENT OKLAHOMA! I can't believe on the entirety of YouTube, the only kind of sort of documentary on amazing multi-Oscar winner for costume design icon Edith Head is from some fashion kids...in Oklahoma! (Respect!):

Today the Oscar stuff happens. But I think it's going to be a waste of my time to watch the gowns because it's so boring these days with the styling. I hope I'm wrong. But I thought of Edith Head (you can see previous film posts here featuring her work), whom I knew of since I was a kid. My mom used to talk to me a lot about her when I was little. She must have loved her work, too. And I did watch a ton of old movies grow up (and still do) especially the ones Edith Head worked on. I also own the Edna Mode doll which is amazing. Edna Mode is the designer-of-super-hero-costumes character in the film The Incredibles. The doll is interactive and critiques what you wear and silly fashion things like that. Anyway...rambling. Happy Oscars! (Let's keep our fingers crossed that 2012 brought with it risk-taking, have-their-own-style actors...like when Barbara Streisand won for Funny Girl and Cher wore that black Bob Mackie native outfit. I'll do posts on Bob Mackie and Cher's iconic Bob Mackie outfits soon.)

This video below is kind of weird, but it shows how the doll interacts with you and says all these amazing fashion things. (And one more thing...you can tell how old fashioned the people running ABC/Disney are because, after all this time, they STILL aren't doing a live stream of the Oscars. You still can't watch it online in real time!) Happy Sunday!♡

SATURDAY SHOW ♥ BYE BYE, RAF XX :(

It must be very hard for Raf Simons to step off the Jil Sander train after so long. But he sort of has to and I'm sure he's fine to do it...because the legend herself is coming back to sit at her thrown. Jil Sander will be overseeing her own namesake house once again. Very major change for the label/brand and for the future of this. Can you imagine if Jil came back and the response to the future was underwhelming? There are so many changes happening in fashion right now to big time houses that have had the same names reigning over the clothes. I think this swan song for the Jil Sander Fall 2012/2013 collection was absolutely lovely. Bye, Raf...can't wait to see what happens next. (PS I did read a lot of rumors about him possibly going to some HUGE house like Dior or something. We shall see.) See quote below from the Washington Post:

Earlier in the week, the Jil Sander Group announced that the founder herself was coming back as creative designer for the company she started in 1968.

The news opens a whole new chapter for the label that has enticed women and men with its minimalist elegant styles.

But for now the fashion world is left sad that Simons is leaving. The designer was moved to tears when, after popular demand-clapping, hooting and a spontaneous invasion of the runway, he was forced to take a second curtain call.

gorgeous

i mean, this is like an old movie star dress. just breathtakingly beautiful. too many dresses and coats and looks for me to say which ones i love because i loved them all.

love raf. we heart him so much.

GIRL FRIDAY ♥ GILES FALL 2012/2013 BURNT

I just love Giles Deacon. And he doesn't seem to disappoint. This Giles Fall Winter 2012/2013 collection was so genius...all the burnt pieces...that really I didn't notice at all when I first looked at them. I thought they were really gorgeous almost animal print-y. But then after my eyes re-focused, I loved them even more. He's amazing. He def knows how to make a girl look good in clothes. I'll have to read up on what the inspiration/theme was behind this collection because it was so well thought out...and well executed. I just think he's one of the new players and I hope I get to play with him one day.♡

so nice. look at the shape.
he even gave tati a figure!
really really gorgeous and really a trip that our eye sees it as pretty. but it really is. even if it's shredded and burnt up.

i mean, look at this dress...it's a dream.

and this one. amazing. (ps codie young is one of my new fave models, btw.)

i love this shape and this dress so much. would be an amazing wedding dress.

i know a lot of people are going to hate this. but i love love love all dresses this shape...is this edwardian? methinks maybe. but i do love it. i tend to buy a lot of dresses from the 1960s that have a similar almost-babydoll shape. there's something very old world and very modern at the same time about it. dunno.
omg. i wish and pray someone would have the nerve to wear this to something like the oscars. it's amazing.

so oretty.

this is probably my favorite of all the burn dresses. and it's julia nobis, whom i think is turning into a super model by the minute.
